The 5-foot-11, 195-pound prospect has narrowed his list down to four schools: Alabama, Baylor, Ohio State and Oklahoma (no order).

Duvernay took an official visit to Tuscaloosa in October during Arkansas weekend. You can get a recap of that visit here.

The No. 4 receiver in the nation also took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa over the summer. Duvernay's brother Donovan is committed to Baylor, which Duvernay has said in the past helps the Bears out.

Sachse was knocked out of the playoffs by UA commit Kendell Jones' Shoemaker Grey Wolves last Friday. For the season, Duvernay caught 62 passes for 1,142 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 520 yards and six additional scores.

Velus Jones has vastly different feelings about Alabama and Tennessee.

The Crimson Tide has yet to extend a scholarship offer to Jones, a 3-star receiver from Saraland High (Saraland, Ala.). That’s turned into a head scratcher.

“I’m not sure what’s going on with Alabama,” 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver told SEC Country. “If they offer, they offer. I just have to pick the best school for me.”

Jones told SEC Country earlier this month that Alabama’s coaches encouraged him to keep working hard, especially in postseason all-star events, as they continue to evaluate him. Things have gotten more complicated since then.

Alabama received a commitment from 4-star receiver Trevon Diggs from The Avalon School (Rockville, Md.) on Nov. 7. Diggs is the second receiver prospect to commit to Alabama for the 2016 class, along with 3-star prospect T.J. Simmons from Clay-Chalkville High (Pinson, Ala.).

Alabama is thought to be in good position with a handful of other highly-rated receivers. That has made things tough on Jones, who is committed to Southern California in April but is clearly considering other options.

“I’m going to sleep well at night,” he said. “It doesn’t bother me one bit. If they want me, they want me. If they don’t, they don’t.”

Southern Cal fired coach Steve Sarkisian earlier this season, and has yet to name a permanent replacement. That, along with Alabama’s uncertainty about Jones, has him considering other schools. Tennessee has made a strong, recent push.

“I really, really like Tennessee,” Jones said. “They’re high on my list. All the coaches are great guys. I just can’t wait to get up there.”

Jones said he’s gotten to know several people at Tennessee. He is primarily being recruited to Tennessee by passing game coordinator/receivers coach Zach Azzanni and linebacker coach Tommy Thigpen, who has strong recruiting ties in Alabama. Jones said he’s also friends with Tennessee redshirt freshman linebacker Gavin Bryant, who is from nearby Jackson, Ala.

“I have good connections with everybody,” Jones said. “I’m just ready to get up there and see the place.”

Jones said he’s planning a visit on Nov. 28 but declined to name the possible destination. Tennessee hosts Vanderbilt on Nov. 28. Jones will take an official visit to Oklahoma on Saturday.

“I know they pass the ball a lot,” Jones said of the Sooners. “They’re a really good team and they have a real good coaching staff so I’m interested in them. I just have to see how everything is up there. I haven’t been up there.”

Jones isn’t letting the uncertainty of his recruiting process get him down.

“I would say it’s nice because people don’t have the opportunities I have in life,” he said. “I’m just going keep working regardless if they (Alabama coaches) offer or not.”

Jones had originally planned to take an unofficial visit to Starkville, Miss., to see the Alabama-Mississippi State game. He said he cancelled that visit and has no other visits currently scheduled.

He is rated the No. 69 receiver in the nation and the No. 12 prospect in Alabama.

Alabama is the latest school to test Amari Rodgers’ commitment to Southern California.

The four-star athlete told SEC Country that he’s been receiving direct messages lately from the Crimson Tide. He said he’d like to visit Tuscaloosa.

“They are one of the top programs in the country,” the 5-foot-10, 195-pound athlete said. “So I feel blessed they are talking to me. It’s great.”

Rodgers committed to Southern California in June. The Catholic High School (Knoxville, Tenn.) prospect maintains he is still committed to Southern California. The Trojans have an interim coach following the firing of former coach Steve Sarkisian.

His teammate, sophomore offensive lineman Cade Mays, is trying to convince Rodgers to give Tennessee more consideration. The recruiting is non-stop, Mays said.

“Oh, it’s everyday,” the 6-5, 305-pound prospect said. “Every time I can get a little stab in there on him, I give it to him. He loves it and he’s starting to pick up on it I think.

Rodgers has always spoken highly of Tennessee. He visited the campus for the South Carolina game on Nov. 7. One of Rodgers’ primary considerations in his recruitment is his ability to play with his father, Southern California receivers coach Tee Martin, who was a standout quarterback at Tennessee from 1996-99.

Mays certainly understands the debate between the hometown school and Rodgers wanting to play for his father, wherever he might be coaching next season.

“I think he likes Tennessee but he wants to be with his dad,” Mays said. “Anything can happen.”

That’s why Alabama and Tennessee are still lurking.

Alabama-Florida Battle Brewing for No. 2 LB Lyndell Wilson?
Chad Simmons

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Florida has shot up to the top for No. 2-ranked inside linebacker Lyndell Wilson, but will the Gators be able to hold off Alabama? His family favors the Tide, he has a close friend committed to the Gators — this is a race to watch...
On December 1, Lyndell Wilson plans to release his final top five schools in order, but is there really five schools that have a shot with the No. 2-ranked inside linebacker in the country?
I would say no.
It is Florida at the top with Alabama right behind the Gators right now, and LSU is hanging around as well.

After reopening his recruitment last Wednesday, Abdul Adams has narrowed his list to Alabama, Indiana, Maryland and Oklahoma.
“I wouldn’t give any team an edge right now,” said the 6-foot, 205-pound Adams. “I’m just taking my time and taking my visits.”
The North Carolina running back gave a quick thought on each school.
Alabama: “It’s a great school and they have a great football tradition, as well as a great coaching staff,” Adams said. “They also produce a lot of great players and they’re a winning program.

Look at this jewel of a post from one of our L5U friends on the L5URb regarding Devin White after White's tweet earlier today:

quote:

He would be our 4th or 5th best rb. Doesn't even help at that position. Unless he wants to 100% commit to linebacker, which would be best for any possible nfl career, then he isn't worth a scholarship anyways.

Still seems like too tough a pull obviously

Still not sure why we don't offer Velus and be done with it...gonna really suck if he ends up at UT and we get to see him have a good career there...I am just partial to the in-state kids I guess

I wish we'd make him a priority right now. No use in giving Little that much leverage.

I agree Chatta, especially with OM becoming a player late and there is a clear path to a Day 1 starter at LT in Oxford...With the JuCo kid Bama has coming in it would in my opinion be better to have a younger guy with some upside to be able to come in and learn and eventually start in 1 - 2 years, Bama isn't in dire need like they were for an OT the year landed Big Cam

I agree, but eventually these Mississippi kids have to realize that both schools are operating with smoke and mirrors.
