Mike Farrell on Kareem Walker:

quote:

I'm no genius, but I've been covering recruiting long enough to see when things appear to be lining up for a big move. Five-star running back Kareem Walker (above) has been committed to Ohio State since he did so at halftime of the Buckeyes national championship win last January. However, Walker took an official visit to Michigan a couple of weekends ago, the Wolverines pulled their football scholarship offer to oft-injured running back Matt Falcon recently. Couple that with the fact that the Buckeyes added four-star running back Antonio Williams, who became a focus after Walker's official to Ann Arbor.

So if you're reading the tea leaves, Michigan feels good about their chances in flipping Walker and is clearing space so-to-speak and Ohio State doesn't feel so confident now and is making sure they don't get shut out for a premier running back in 2016. Walker is downplaying the drama and keeping things close to the vest, but with Michigan's success in New Jersey so far this year and defensive tackle Rashan Gary leaning their way as well, two plus two equals four here, right?

Free Bleacher Report Content on Kareem Walker (long)

quote:

Alabama certainly wouldn't be an ideal choice if Walker was looking for a clearer path to playing time. The Crimson Tide signed top-ranked 2015 running back Damien Harris and hold commitments from three rushers rated 4-star or better in the 2016 and 2017 cycles.

Seems like a biased thing to say if you ask me.

Shea Dixon put out another LSU Class Prediction article. He thinks they land Devin White, Rashard Lawrence and Rashan Gary.

Luke Stampini on why he CB'd Mack Wilson to Florida:

quote:

Continued to hear positive things about UF and if NSD were today, apparently the UF staff feels he would pick the Gators. Talked to some sources close to Bama and they think UF has his attention right now. They also feel UF might be able to hang on to NSD. So why not toss out a Crystal Ball to UF early, maybe I look like a genius come February 3.

My favorite part about us possibly not getting the #1 ranked class is if LSU gets it we'll get to hear all about how LSU > Alabama after they get 1 recruiting class win over Bama after Bama had the #1 class for 5 straight years

Rashan Gary has alot of teams feeling good about theri chances to land him (Michigan, LSU, UGA, AU, LOL). I don't remember seeing any tweets or announcements or anything, so I wonder what is being said behind the scenes.

Braxton Key thinks Marques Bolden will be visiting this weekend too.
Excited about Marvin Wilson and Deangelo Gibbs visiting. Nate Mcbride may not be able to make it.

Funny story from Greg McElroy. Said he was never a good recruiter while at Alabama. Said none of the recruits he hosted signed w/ Alabama.

I have a feeling his father may spring a last second "Let's ride over to the stadium and watch Tennessee get beat" on him.

The trend of de-commitments was highlighted last week when two five-star linebackers stepped away from USC commitments following the dismissal of the coach Steve Sarkisian. This week's Inside the Numbers focuses on the increasing de-commitment epidemic, especially among the highest ranked.

8 Five-stars in the 2016 class who have de-committed

There are just 23 five-star prospects in the 2016 class, and eight have already stepped back from commitments issued earlier in their recruitment. The list includes the class' No. 1 prospect, quarterback Shea Patterson, who committed to Arizona immediately following his freshman high school season. Patterson maintained that commitment for 19 months before ultimately de-committing and pledging to Ole Miss last February.

Of the eight five-star prospects that have issued de-commitments, Patterson is the only one that has re-committed to another school. Five-star linebackers Mique Juarez and Daelin Hayes both issued de-commitments last week after USC parted ways with Sarkisian. Other five-star de-commitments include offensive tackle Gregory Little (de-committed from Texas A&M), athlete Demetris Robertson (Alabama), wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers (Auburn), outside linebacker Rahshaun Smith (Clemson) and tight end Isaac Nauta (Florida State).

We may pick up Little and we may get Robertson back.

4 Five-stars in the class of 2015 who de-committed

We have not even hit prime de-commitment time, and yet 2016's five-stars have already doubled the number of de-commitments from the entire 2015 class despite the group being nearly one-third smaller. A total of 34 prospects earned five-stars in the 2015 class, with 13 not rendering their final decisions before January of their senior seasons.

The four five-star de-commitments in the 2015 class were Tennessee offensive tackle Drew Richmond, Florida State wide receiver George Campbell, Alabama running back Damien Harris and LSU offensive lineman Maea Teuhema. Three of those four made their initial commitments during their sophomore years - Campbell and Harris to Michigan and Teuhama to Texas. Richmond committed to Ole Miss in September of his senior season before flipping on National Signing Day.
