We wanted this one. It may have been too early for our staff to accept his commitment, but he certainly had a spot this far out from NSD 2017.

Wut? This contradicts itself. DrewD mentioned this morning that he didn't think he had a spot. None of us know for sure, though. We're wanting Leatherwood, Troxall, and love Randolph. I would have personally been surprised had we accepted his commitment.

Marlon Davidson AJC article:

quote:

“The coaches just have to represent a great education and those coaches just have to recruit me harder than any other school,” Davidson said. “That’s it. It is pretty simple. When I see a school do that, it means that school really needs me. It means I can come in and play as a freshman and play at least 250 snaps. That means I will see a way to go to that school and get out in three or four years or whatever it takes. That’s what it is going to take to help me get to the league. I am thinking about stuff like that when I’m thinking about which college I will go to.”

The staff was very high on DeHond and he surprised them with his intention to announce this early. The staff not being ready to accept another OT commitment at this time does not mean he wouldn't have a spot in the class. They know they want at least one more OT in the 2017 class. They are probably doing more evals to decide who they want more between Troxell, Randolph and DeHond.

DeHond made that easier on them.

If that's what MD is basing where he'll go to school, maybe he's not the brightest light in the hallway.

Maybe he should be more worried about which school will better prepare him to be successful in life, not just football, or who shows him the most "love."

Well this is interesting:

quote:

Schools Town cannot consider per his release from USC include all of the Pac 12, Alabama, Arkansas State, Idaho, UNLV, Notre Dame, Utah State, Western Michigan, Texas and BYU.

Like we'd take him.

It's because we are playing them within the next four years. They don't want the secret playbook getting out.

He must have learned so much over the course of 30 practices.

It won't be Bama. He might ultimately receive 250 snaps as a FR if he came to Bama, but Saban, Smart, and crew are not going to guarantee him 250 snaps before he ever gets on campus.

FTR - it's got to be AU. He's a very recent legacy with a brother ON STAFF. I don't see any way he doesn't commit to AU.

You have to pay a hundred bucks a year to find out the names. It's nice to see someone recruiting for this class tho.

Where are the top college recruits playing as the high school football season kicks off this weekend?

Here are five recruits involved in Coastal Alabama games to keep an eye on this week. The complete Coastal Alabama schedule for Week 1 follows. Jamboree games are not included.

quote:

2. Jaquelle Green, S, D’Iberville, Miss. (6-0, 205, Sr.)
Green’s Warriors will host Threat and company in what should be a good opening week matchup for both teams. Green said his finalist are Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. He likely will see plenty of action as Spanish Fort senior QB Tyler Johnston returns from last year’s ACL injury and has a wealth of weapons at the receiver position. Green told the Biloxi Sun-Herald late last month he would like to commit before the opener.

3. Darius Whitfield, OL/DL, St. Paul’s (6-3, 265, Jr.)
Whitfield, No. 9 on the A-List, is scheduled to make his college decision on Oct. 13. According to coach Steve Mask, South Alabama has become a big player in Whitfield’s recruitment along with a number of other SEC and ACC schools. Whitfield and the Saints will put their 15-game win streak on the line at E.E. Delaney Stadium against Class 7A Alma Bryant. Mask has said Whitfield might be his team’s first true two-way starter in his tenure at the school.

Sounds like UT is upping the ante on Warrior, Gibbs, and is willing to take several of their teammates. Our lead for those guys may be short lived.
