You're the Don Quixote of Alabama recruiting

One of the reasons that I post about recruiting in this thread is to help get others involved. I know years ago when I first started following recruiting, I didn't know where to begin. Was the only info pay info? Did I have to buy four subscriptions just to get to know who would be on our team? Between me, Saint, 3714, Magilla, etc.. I think this thread covers 95% of recruiting info out there without any cost to the reader.
I also enjoy recruiting because I enjoy everything about college football. I like the story behind it. I like that Rashaan Evans is an Auburn legacy at Alabama. I like hearing Reuben recruited others to Alabama while he was committed to Auburn. The LC26 story was great. I also like being able to watch USC vs UCLA and tell you something about their players based on recruiting. Is that one player as good as I thought he would be?
I also enjoy posting on this board. This is a small community of posters who are passionate about something that is relatively uncomon, recruiting. One of the reasons I like this board is because of the diversity. Some negas, some posis, others in between. I like that people don't feel the need to conform on this board like they do on other bama boards, such as BOL and Tidefans.

Also, when I post articles, tweets, et. al, I am kind of hoping that someone responds with an insight, question, thought, etc. It gets relatively boring posting fifteen articles in a row without any feedback.

I appreciate all you and the others out here do with recruiting. I don't have much time to spend in this area and the info you guys post out keeps me in the loop. Keep doing what you're doing... let the haters hate. I, for one, appreciate it immensely.

I wish some of our people would watch BJ Emmons' highlights. I've posted them at least 3 times, and they are linked on the 1st page. He's a fricking beast and he may be our only RB in this class.

Do you think he will be our only back? For some reason I think we could get Elijah Holyfield if we really push. White is probably a long shot at this point. There's also the thought that we could get in it with Brandon Stephens.

I think so.
This year's RB class was weak. Next year's is elite. Hopefully we can hang on to Harris and grab another high 4-star like Cam Akers.

BOL has a story on him up right now. He says the staff compares him to Yeldon all the time:
quote:
“He said I would be a great addition to the offense,” Stephens said. “I run a similar offense at my high school. They compare me to T.J. Yeldon pretty often. I’m a versatile player, I can catch and I can run. I believe I have many threats to my game. He’s really excited about me and I’m definitely excited about the Crimson Tide.
We appear to be in his top 3 with Texas and A&M. Napier is his lead recruiter.

Brandon Stephens' Highlights in case anyone missed them
He's not as good as Emmons but he's a good player.

247 dropped Darnell Salomon to the number 573 overall, 89th receiver and #74 ranked player in the state of Florida.
Talk about a free fall.

I think we have to take two. Both running backs next year (Scarborough and Harris) have both been injured previously. I don't think we can count on Scarborough to stay healthy. Hope he does though. Emmons and Stephens would be great IMO. Emmons can come in and play and Stephens can add depth.

We offered an OLB from the 2018 class that is already committed to Miami:

Salomon is a 5 Star on Rivals, wonder where they will drop him.

It is ridiculous how much stock 247 puts in camp performances over game film.

573 Overall is crazy though

That drop is ridiculous. There weren't even 80 receivers at the opening. There's nothing to justify putting him below guys he beat out for the opening.

I used to be that guy that would correct people on things like that, but I just roll my eyes when I overhear it now. Sadly it's much more common to overhear when I'm attending games these days.
