No. 1 OT Little has love for Alabama
John Garcia Jr.
Recruiting Analyst

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Whether it’s on the field or on the recruiting trail, few prospects have as many eyes on him at Nike World Headquarters this week as Scout’s No. 1 offensive line prospect Greg Little. The five-star Texas A&M commitment updates his thoughts on many schools and what he’s looking to prove while in town.

Though he’s the No. 6 player in America and the 2016 class’ top offensive tackle prospect, Allen (Tex.) rising-senior Greg Little says he’s competing at Nike’s The Opening Finals to improve his stock solely for on-field benefits.

“It’s fun. People get caught up in the rankings and ratings, but it’s about getting better,” he said. “I want to see where I’m at with everybody else here. I’m ready to compete!

“I want to be playing consistent, being consistent with my pass-sets and hand placement, that’s one thing I want to work on while I’m here. I’m looking forward to going against anyone that will go in front of me.”

Little, who has been committed to Texas A&M for more than a year, will have many prospects in his ear this week. The Aggies have competition from others in the SEC as well as the reigning national champs.

“It’s close to home and it’s the best conference in football in the SEC. I’m a soft commit; I’m still open to other schools because I have to make the best decision for me,” he said. “If I have a better feel for a coaching staff or environment, that’s a move I have to make.

Analysis: Shows that he has the athleticism, the frame, and the footwork to become a true college tackle prospect. Has that long arm looking frame that could handle additional strength easily as he matures. No surprise to find out that he is a basketball player as well, because of his lateral range. Flashes the ability to knock defenders back with his initial contact and shows balance by being able to keep good leg drive and finish consistently. - Powers

“I like Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, Ohio State and Auburn. I still have to get to Auburn and Ohio State, I’m trying to plan them.”

The Crimson Tide’s approach to the best prospect at a priority position has been quite simple, whether it came from Nick Saban or Mario Cristobal.

“Consistent,” Little said of UA’s approach. “They’re consistent with winning, the coaches hold you accountable to do your job and they love you like their own son, that’s what I love about Alabama.

“They say I’m the left tackle of the future, but Cameron Robinson is there. So I would play right tackle my first year and then I guess I’d go to left tackle my sophomore year. I’m open to that, I played right tackle my sophomore year and during the first four games of my junior year.”

Though no official visit destinations are yet known, the Lone Star State star does know when the final decision of the recruiting process is to go down.

“I’m trying to do it on my birthday, November 4. That’s when I’ll have my official school picked,” he said. “How I feel about them, the coaching staff, the environment and what the best fit and feel for me is. That’s what’s going to keep me committed, or change.”

The Opening: Najee Harris
Greg Biggins
National Recruiting Analyst

Antioch (Calif.) running back Najee Harris gave an early commitment to Alabama but the Tide will have to fight off some tough competition over the next year and a half.

Although just a junior, Najee Harris is already one of the top running backs in the country.

Analysis: The top back in the region, regardless of class and an easy top 10 player nationally. Has been compared to his former workout partner Joe Mixon (OU) and it's easy to see why. He has size, power, toughness, speed and great hands out of the backfield. He runs with patience and balance, can make that first guy miss and does a great job making yards after contact. He has the length of a WR and can be moved around to cause matchup problems-Biggins

Harris gave an early commitment to Alabama but said he still wants to go through the recruiting process. He recently spent two days on campus at USC and is hoping to get out to Georgia and Ohio State as well.
Harris talked to Scout about how solid his commitment to Alabama still is and where his recruitment is at right now.

ETA: he doesn't sound very committed in the interview.

That's not that bad IMO. Pretty sure he will have to drop some pounds which should help him move around better.
