Just what we need. Another running back who won't make the grades
That is what I don't get. Flowers apparently made the grades to graduate early and the NCAA cleared him. If they hadn't he would have spent another semester in high school taking courses and going above and beyond the entrance requirements to enroll during the summer.
Now they've waited so long to make this decision that he has to go to JUCO to get back on campus. What the frick NCAA?

No he is finally excelling in the secondary. No need to waste him at RB.
where does Averett fit in in the secondary? he's surrounded by five star underclassmen

It's pure and utter bullshite. How they prevented Calvin Ridley from enrolling early because of ACT score/grades, but couldn't catch Flowers situation until the summer is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention, had we known this earlier, perhaps we could have pulled Nick Gibson away from Miss St.

It's the game you play when you recruit these type of kids with very bad grades. You play it safe and you miss out on some real studs or you take a chance and sometimes it backfires.

That's just it. Flowers, by all accounts, didn't have bad grades which allowed him to graduate early. The NCAA probably passed some dumb shite bylaw in January, after he graduated, that disallowed a course he took in the 9th grade which made him ineligible.

He was a pretty damn good offensive player in high school. Yeah, he played QB for the most part, but so does Cam Akers.
Really didn't look like a guy you want at RB during A Day. Maybe lost a step since his injury. I think he would be a good H back maybe or LB.

This. I don't remember Desherrius ever being mentioned as a possible grade casualty by the recruiting sites. I just skimmed Flowers' profile on TSWSNBN, and grades wasn't mentioned once.
I can understand this happening with the photo finish qualifiers like Montel McBride or even Calvin Ridley. This happening to Flowers is puzzling.

That means nothing. That's like saying we should've moved Amari Cooper because Chris Black was rated higher. Anyway didn't he win an award for one of the most improved DBs? Heck of an athlete too.

VIDEO: MARTELL TALKS EARLY LEADERS
Greg Biggins
National Recruiting Analyst
Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman '17 quarterback Tate Martell put on a show at The Opening Regional Camp in Eugene and is arguably the region's top signal caller right now.
Tate Martell always comes ready to compete and had another strong showing at the The Opening Regional Camp in Eugene over the weekend.
TATE MARTELL
Bishop Gorman HS / 5'10.5" / 192 lbs
POSITION
QB
INTEREST
13
Analysis: Martell is undersized but has some nice physical tools to work with. He has a very live arm, can consistently spin the football and is accurate on the short, intermediate and deep throws. He's a very good athlete with a strong lower body and moves around very well in and out of the pocket. He's a dual threat quarterback who plays with a poise and maturity beyond his years and has an incredible work ethic off the field-Biggins
We caught up with Martell prior to the camp to discuss his recent visit to Oregon, his current top three of Alabama, Texas A&M and USC and his time frame for making a decision.

Its crazy. Im not positive but wasn't Chubb interested in us as well but we weren't interested?

no, it's not like that at all. It's like taking Dakota Ball and moving him to TE because we are stacked at DL and have very few TEs.
C.Jones, Mo Smith, Humphrey, T.Brown are all ahead of Averett already, and only Jones is gone next year. Sheffield and Fitz are behind him and are expected to be studs.

damn straight. he's got good vision and shiftiness. but he's got outstanding burst. played a lot of quarterback in high school too.
here are his HS highlights

He is too small imo.

he's listed 6'0 180. he wont be a bruiser but he could be a legit ballcarrier if he adds a little weight. his physicality is one of the things i like about him on defense

sounds like cook was maybe smoking the reefer, usually what off the field issues means
the mother seems reasonable about it
although she does take a little shot here

Cook's mother, Melissa Cook, said her son "just had some issues outside of the field." She said it was not a legal matter, but declined to explain the specifics. The dismissal was "somewhat surprising," she said. "It was a good school," Melissa Cook said. "They did what they're supposed to. It just didn't work out. These kids these days, they learn from their mistakes and they just have to move on."

He's very talented. He just didn't get a chance to show his talents. There are a lot of kids who go to Alabama who don't get a chance. They sit two or three years and they don't get a chance to do it.

I don't get how this isn't true at every school. Is there a school where every recruit has equal playing time?

Devonta Smith got a CB to OM from Demetric Warren.

The WR that Bama really likes a lot for 2017 (other than the one from MS committed and Nico Collins) is Jerry Jeudy. Coaching staff thinks he could be another Julio/Amari/Ridley potentially. Will be interesting to see how he develops.

How about we pump the brakes. Ridley hasn't played one second of college football. Coop and JJ are two of the best WRs in conference history.

Jeudy is in deep with the Ridley/Burgess-Becker family.
