Recruiting is a year-round endeavor in college football, with coaches hitting the trail whenever they get a free moment. No time is more critical to this pursuit than in the summer, however, when prospects are participating in camps and all-star showcases that are meant to draw college recruiters to one place to find their next stars.

Every FBS power-conference team has been hot on the trail of 2016 recruits for some time, with schools like Miami (23), Florida State (17) and Michigan State (17) nearly done filling out their next class. Others have a lot more work to do, such as Iowa State, which has zero commitments for 2016, while four other power programs have two or fewer commitments.

This summer will be critical for each team's future, and each power-conference school has a particular player it's interested in more than any other. We've identified a top uncommitted recruiting target for every team in the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC as well as Notre Dame and note why he's important to each school (as well as who else wants him).

Alabama

Lyndell Wilson, LB

Height, weight: 6'2", 220 lbs

National rank: 8th

Alabama is involved in trying to recruit nearly every unavailable 5-star prospect who hasn't pledged for 2016, but the one who matters most to future success is someone who can contribute in multiple ways.

Wilson fits that bill. He's an athletic outside linebacker who would help in stopping the run and putting pressure on the quarterback but could also drop back into coverage.

The Montgomery, Alabama, prospect was just named MVP of the Rivals 5-Star Challenge in Baltimore, where he intercepted five passes, per Ethan Bernal of the Montgomery Advertiser.

Wilson attended Alabama's camp at the end of May, and while Auburn and Florida State are also hot after him, he looks like someone the Crimson Tide should land with continued contact.

The have Rashan Gary listed as Georgia's top target remaining.

They don't even have to go out of state to land 2 5-star DTs and 2 4-star DTs.

Texas A&M sent a resounding message last June by landing a commitment from prized offensive tackle Gregory Little. A year later, the Aggies appear to have some competition from the reigning recruiting king of college football—Alabama.

The burgeoning rivalry between these relatively new conference rivals extends far beyond on-field showdowns. Recruiting clashes are growing more prevalent on a perennial basis.

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin continues to increase his program's focus on talent-laden territory in the Southeast while the Crimson Tide claim six commitments from the Lone Star State since 2014, featuring a pair of 5-star cornerbacks in Tony Brown and Kendall Sheffield.

Alabama's efforts in that department have reached a new level during the 2016 recruiting cycle. Head coach Nick Saban holds pledges from a trio of Texas prospects after defensive tackle Kendell Jones and quarterback Jalen Hurts jumped on board in recent weeks.

Now the Crimson Tide have turned their attention to the state's top-rated recruit.

Little, a 6'5 ½", 305-pound lineman from Allen High School, traveled to Tuscaloosa on Tuesday. He tweeted a photo of him and Alabama assistant Billy Napier.

His visit precedes the anticipated Friday arrival of No. 1 prospect Rashan Gary, a 5-star defensive tackle from New Jersey.

Gary and Little rate first and second overall, respectively, in 247Sports' composite rankings. Needless to say, this week looms large for Alabama's latest recruiting efforts.

The Crimson Tide, riding an unprecedented five-year streak atop national signing day ratings, have overcome a slow start by Saban's standards. Alabama surged to eighth overall in national class rankings with nine new pledges since April after sitting outside the top 15 for quite some time.

Earlier this spring, the program seemed primed to finally fall from its top perch on signing day. Entering the summer, that sentiment now seems far from a foregone conclusion.

Momentum in College Station isn't quite as strong right now, but Texas A&M is piecing together another impressive class. The 11-player group rates 14th nationally, putting the team in position to potentially secure its third top-10 class in four years.

Of course, things won't look quite as rosy if you remove Little from the equation. Without him in the mix, Texas A&M would tumble to 23rd overall in national recruiting rankings and 10th among SEC squads.

The sight of Little wearing a Crimson Tide jersey may send shivers down the spines of Aggies faithful, but this should simply be viewed as an exploratory phase of his recruitment—for now.

When you're the top player at your position, and perhaps in the nation, it makes sense to expand your collegiate horizons.

Alabama isn't the only SEC team to host Little on campus this week. He traveled to Ole Miss on Monday.

Trips to Oxford and Tuscaloosa show Little and his family are at least curious about what options may lie beyond College Station. Given the unsteadiness of college staffs—the Aggies' offseason overhaul included the dismissal of offensive line coach B.J. Anderson—it's smart to be diligent and identify alternatives.

"He's obviously committed to Texas A&M, but kids may have a change of heart. I think he just wanted to check a couple of things out," Allen High School head coach Tom Westerberg told Drew Champlin of AL.com.

If things work out the way Aggies fans envision, Little will compete for playing time at Texas A&M in 2016 and reunite with 5-star 2015 quarterback signee Kyler Murray. He protected the promising passer at Allen during unbeaten state title runs in 2013 and 2014.

These same fans surely remember the uneasy moments they endured last winter when Murray—an Aggies legacy—visited Austin and flirted with the idea of flipping to Texas.

This situation shouldn't induce the level of panic that development brought, but as long as Little is spending time on the campuses of conference rivals, there will be some lingering doubt about whether he ultimately lands at Texas A&M.

If Alabama secures an official visit this fall, things get a bit more dicey. Texas A&M hosts the Crimson Tide on Oct. 17, and it would be a surprise if Little isn't in attendance.

Bookmark that matchup and this recruitment as intriguing storylines to monitor for these SEC foes.

Pineiro, having gone relatively under the radar, had a standout performance at the Tide’s Saturday kicking camp, reportedly drilling a 65-yard field goal. Pineiro was offered on Thursday and committed.

He chose the Tide over Miami, even though he had grown up in the city.

"It's Alabama what's not to like," Pineiro told 247Sports' Ryan Bartow right before committing. "How can you not go there?"

Pineiro plans on enrolling in January and competing for the starting spot right off the bat. Depending on the route he takes, should Pineiro not play football this fall, he would have four years of eligibility remaining since ASA Miami was in its first year as a program in 2014.

That would be fricking sweet if we got him for 4 years.

Miller Forristall is a new four-star tight end on Scout.

The 6-foot-6, 210 pound rising senior out of Cartersville (Ga.) was playing quarterback this time a year ago and was ranked by some as a top 25 prospect there. He moved to tight end early in the 2014 season and it has really paid off.

"Things have really worked out best for my team and for me since I moved to tight end," said Forristall. "It is awesome to be ranked as a four-star now and I just want to keep going out and competing with the best. I am getting some big offers the last couple of months and it is pretty exciting."

An offer that really excited Forristall, the No. 13-ranked tight end on Scout after being re-evaluated this spring was extended last week after a camp performance in Tuscaloosa (Ala.). The Crimson Tide offered, now it leads.

"That offer from Alabama was huge for me. Alabama is one of the better programs in the country. I went from having one offer from Jacksonville State not too long ago to being offered by Alabama. It is a giant offer and Alabama is on top of my list."

Bobby Williams coaches tight ends for Alabama and he was in Cartersville watching a spring practice. He invited Forristall to camp to be seen by head coach Nick Saban - that led to the offer.

"Coach Williams and coach Saban watched me workout at the camp, then coach Saban is the coach that offered me. He likes how I run, how I move, how I change direction, and he likes my hands.

"Coach Saban compared me to O.J. Howard (Scout's No. 1 tight end in 2013) with my size and ability. He said me and O.J. are about the same size in high school, so he thinks I can get to his size."

Alabama is in a great spot with Forristall right now and a decision is on the horizon.
It may happen before the end of June.

"My plan is to commit in the next three weeks or so," said Forristall. "It is an exciting time, but our team has aspirations to win a state championship, so that is what I want to focus on. I am an early enrollee, so I want to know where I am going and get recruiting off my mind."

Who could challenge the Crimson Tide?

One is a school Forristall will be camping at Friday - it is an in-state school that he and his family grew up watching in the fall.

"If Georgia offers me, they will be right there with Alabama. I have been watching Georgia every Saturday for a long time, my dad is a big Mark Richt fan, and a Georgia offer would be a big one."

New UGA offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer was out to see Forristall this spring and invited him to camp. We all will know by the weekend just where things stand between the Dawgs and the top tight end in Georgia.

Another Bulldogs is in this race, too. Mississippi State is one of the schools on Forristall's offer list and Dan Mullen had him and his family on campus last week. Forristall got to tour the campus, work under the coaches at camp, and the first visit to Starkville was a successful one for both parties.

"Mississippi State is up there on my list," said Forristall. "I met with the staff and they are doing a good job there. Coach [Billy] Gonzales is my recruiting coach, and I like him. I like the energy around the football program and they are definitely up there on my list."

California, Iowa, and Missouri are three others hanging around trying to stay in the race for the Scout 300 prospect. No visit has been taken or scheduled to those schools yet.

A big camp for Forristall Friday, a couple of visits later this month are possible, then a decision will be made for the No.-274 overall prospect on Scout.

Alabama has its kicker.

After three offers, some board shuffling and a come-out-of-nowhere performance at kicking camp on Saturday, Eddy Pineiro is the guy. The Miami (Fla.) ASA College product ended his recruitment at the tail end of its hottest week, jumping on the third offer he's seen in a five-day span.

"I got a call today from Alabama, saying they're going to offer me a full scholarship," he said. "I talked to Nick Saban, he told me he talked to my dad and then told me about the scholarship. He saw my leg strength and went over my film yesterday, from the previous camp. He thinks I'm a better fit for the program.

"I took the offer today."

Consistently citing the tradition and comfort he felt during his time in Tuscaloosa, in between notching field goals north of 60 yards and kickoffs well over 80, the Miami native also says the chance to play at the next level made Alabama the correct choice.

"When I went to see the facilities and the program they have over there, and the type of atmosphere I want for college -- it's why I picked Alabama over the two other schools that offered me (Florida and Miami)," Pineiro said. "My dad is a big-time Miami (Fla.) fan, so he wanted me to stay home, but the best decision for me is to go to Alabama is to have a great chance to make it to the NFL one day. I think they give me the best shot for the next level."

Saban, special teams coordinator Bobby Williams and several other Crimson Tide coaches joined in on the celebration once the news broke on Thursday afternoon.

"He (Saban) was happy for me, he told me he's going to take care of me," he said. "He said I have great leg strength and potential to make it to the big leagues, so let's see what happens. He thinks that if I come to Alabama I have a great chance of becoming the starting kicker. It means a lot, I would be kicking for the best team in the nation."

Pineiro, who hasn't played beyond high school yet, says he may sit out the 2015 season at ASA in order to have four years to play four once enrolled at Alabama. Either way, however, he'll graduate in December and begin his career in crimson come January.

“Eddy is currently ranked in the co-#1 spot overall in our Fab 50 National Rankings,” said Brandon Kornblue on the website. “He might be the most explosive placekicker ever to have come through our camps. In the Spring 2015 Kornblue Kicking Challenge, Eddy blasted an event-record 86 yard kickoff. His best kickoffs were 77/4.07, 86/3.87,80/3.59, and 74/4.28. He was 7/7 from 50 and in and made a 60 yard FG in the long ball competition. His last field goal attempt was from 71 yards out and bounced off the crossbar. He has several made FG’s from 60-70 yards on video.”

Really though, I just want someone who can consistently make field goals from 45 and in. Hopefully, he can be that guy.
