WHO'S ALREADY MADE THE CUT FOR EMMIT GOODEN?
Chad SimmonsChad Simmons
National Recruiting Analyst
This story was originally published on ScoutFootball.com.
Emmit Gooden hit the road last week to check out a school he is interested in and he will be back out to see another one this weekend. by the end of the summer, this Scout 300 defensive lineman plans to cut his list down. He already knows a handful of schools that will make the cut...
Most have forgotten that Emmit Gooden committed to Tennessee in February 2014. He stayed committed to the Vols for a couple of months before re-opening his recruitment in April of last year.
The 6-foot-4, 270 pound defensive lineman has drawn a lot of attention on the recruiting trail because of his size, his versatility, and his upside. He carries his weight so well - he looks more like 235 pounds on tape with a frame to easily carry 300 pounds and still keep his quickness.
Gooden is a star at Brownsville (Tenn.) Haywood and he plans to visit a lot of schools in the South this summer. He tripped over to Tuscaloosa (Ala.) last week and the Crimson Tide have locked itself into contention.
"Coach [Billy] Napier is my recruiting coach and he just wanted me to come back over for another visit, so I did last week," said Gooden. "I participated in their camp and I made a good impression on coach Nick Saban and defensive line coach, coach [Bo] Davis, and I know they want me over there.
"Alabama is one of the schools that will definitely make my list when I cut it down this summer. I did the camp, I hung around the team, and I watched the players workout. I love the intensity at Alabama and how they work. It is a top program."
By the end of July, the No. 18-ranked defensive end on Scout plans to have his list narrowed down. Alabama has cemented itself on it. Who else is there with the Crimson Tide?
"It is really tough, but I am trying to eliminate schools and get down to five schools. it may be closer to 10 schools, but I want to get it down to five by the end of next month if I can.
"Alabama will be on the list. Mississippi State, LSU, and Tennessee will definitely be on the list, too."
Gooden knows four schools who will make the cut. He talked about Alabama, so why did three other schools in the SEC make the cut?

Analysis: if you do not see Haywood live and in person, you do not realize how big he is and what type of frame he has. Looks like a 235 pound DE on tape, but is closer to 270 pounds. More of a true strongside end who can help set the edge and play out of the five-technique. Flashes good quickness off the ball and to the ball. Is athletic. Has tendency to play high, so needs to improve pad level and technique. Needs development in the weight room.
LSU: "I have now visited LSU twice (Junior day and spring scrimmage) this year and I love it there. Coach [Ed] Orgeron, coach [Kevin] Steele, and coach Les Miles are all recruiting me for LSU and all want me there. They are high on me, I am high on them, and I love their style of play. It is like family there and I like that."
Mississippi State: "I have been there so many times and I am going back again this weekend. I really like Dan Mullin and he just makes me feel wanted there. I have been to a lot of games, other unofficial visits, and I am very comfortable there."
Tennessee: "Tennessee is kind of like my home away from home. I just feel at home when I am there. I like what coach Butch Jones is doing there and I think they are close to being back to winning. Tennessee is still coming at me hard and I plan to be back there Saturday June 20."
Plenty of other schools like Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M to name a few are still in the running for Gooden. He plans to look at as many schools as he can the next seven weeks before making his cut. He then will focus on those select schools through early February.
"I am just enjoying the recruiting process now and I am trying not to let it burn me out," said Haywood. "I am going to take it all slow, then make my decision on signing day. I do not want to rush things, so I will cut my list down, take my visits, and find the right place for me."

BALDWIN IS FOOTBALL PIONEER TO ALABAMA
A. P. SteadhamA. P. Steadham
Taskmaster savant Nick Saban espouses consistency of effort and performance to his team, the media, fans, alumni and any individual remotely within earshot of his football sermons. He may have found a prospect epitomizing those coveted traits from a state with the moniker of “The Land of Steady Habits.”
Charles Baldwin, a Scout.com four-star junior college offensive tackle prospect from ASA College in Brooklyn, NY, committed to the Alabama program on Friday in Nick Saban’s office during a recent multi-day visit to Tuscaloosa. The 6-6, 305 pound Windsor (Conn.) High School product will be the first ever scholarship football student-athlete to Bama hailing from the Nutmeg State.
’BAMA Magazine/BamaMag.com spoke with his high school coach. Interestingly enough, Coach Rob Fleeting has Alabama roots of his own although he has yet to set foot in the state. His father is from Luverne.
The business-like personality of his former player bodes well for someone devoted to achieving lofty goals under the tutelage of Nick Saban. “He has a world of potential,” said Fleeting. “He has a tremendous work ethic on-the-field and in the weight room.” Baldwin’s mental and physical maturation journey is continuous. A junior year epiphany resulted in adhering to a more nutritious diet and a regimented workout schedule. He squats 600 pounds and bench presses 475.
Fleeting said, “He is really driven to be successful. He loves the game of football. Football drives him.”
Although an imposing force with an aggressive nature on the field, Baldwin is cautious and reserved away from the action. Conversations with those outside the circle of family, friends, and coaches are guarded until he develops a comfortable relationship.
Fleeting said, “The game of football has opened up his eyes to the life. It has made him want to do things to help other people and be a better person. He calls me all the time. He is very respectful to people who he knows that are there to help him.”
Baldwin is single-minded and determined. “He wants to please his coaches and do well for people,” Fleeting said. “I know he is going to do great things. He is a competitor. He doesn’t care who is lined up across him.”
Baldwin is a two-time member (2013 and 2012) of the All-Courant (Hartford) offensive team and 2013 Connecticut High School Coaches Association first-team Class L offensive line selection. The 2014 Windsor graduate entered the Warriors program as a freshman becoming a two-way lineman and three-year varsity member. Immediately he embraced the philosophy and training schedule suggested by the coaching staff.
“We told him to have a schedule,” said Fleeting. “Be in the weight room every day. Try to be a better student and person. He totally bought into our program.”
Baldwin persistently peppers his coach for ways to develop and improve. Nick Saban promotes a master plan involving personal development for every player. He should be a perfect candidate to absorb all the information available for those seeking guidance.
Northeastern schools UConn and UMass showed interested initially but grades were an issue. He transformed his body physically but required an equivalent change academically to gain eligibility to an FBS school; hence, junior college was the viable option.
Prior to Baldwin leaving for New York Fleeting said, “I told Charles he had the potential to be one of the best linemen in the country.”
Delaying the choice proved to be beneficial. National suitors from the Power Five Conferences flocked to extend offers. Georgia, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Miami, Michigan State, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech were among the other strong contenders.
Baldwin, expected to enroll at Alabama in January, has played one year at ASA College and should graduate in December with three years of eligibility to play two. The junior college signing period begins December 16, ending January 15, 2016. Tide offensive line coach, Mario Cristobal, contacted Fleeting as a courtesy to inform him Alabama would be extending an offer.
The bright lights and big stage panache of the Southeastern Conference may intimidate some, especially if they are from a relatively small state not known for producing FBS level football players. Fleeting believes his pupil, a nimble footed right tackle coming from a spread offense, can play either bookend and is prepared and eager to perform. “I don’t think he has hit his ceiling yet,” the coach said. “He is going to try to do what is right but like any 20-21 year old kid, he will probably make some mistakes. But he is very focused to do the right thing. He is going to a great place (Alabama) so that he can continue to grow.” Recruits living in every corner of the nation from Hawaii to California to New York and points in between have ventured South to experience the mystique of Alabama football. The Capstone of Alabama appears to be the perfect place to prosper even for a Connecticut born and bred football player taking a risk beyond the borders of “The Land of Steady Habits”.

3 new CB picks for Gregg Little in the last few days.

Hold me...
We get Little, and it's all over for the rest of CFB from 2016-2019. Well, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but just amazing OL depth and talent.

looked at the 247 class calculator, if we add lyndell wilson, ben davis, and flip greg little we go up to a score of 262.38, which would be #1 at the moment

His word choice may be a little over the top for CFB. I applaud his effort but seems more like something Jeremy Schaap would be using for an outside the lines episode.

Alabama hosted JJ Molson, a 2016 kicker from John Abbot College in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC, on Wednesday. Molson kicked for Nick Saban earlier in the morning, performing well enough to earn an offer.
While Molson is currently boarding a plane to head home, I was able to ask him if Alabama was his top school via text message.
"Yessir," Molson said.
Molson is rated the No. 4 kicker in the country by Kohl's Kicking, one of the top clinics in the kicking industry. His bio on the Kohl's Kicking website provides insight to his abilities:
Molson is a Canadian who might have the strongest leg in the US or Canada. He has huge upside and is new to kicking. At Kohl's Under Classman Challenge held in January of 2015 he showed as much talent as anyone at camp. His FGs are solid but not totally refined yet. The ball seems to move more than other top kickers. Molson is also a good punter who will get better with age because of his natural leg speed and overall ability. He is someone to watch for in the coming months!
Standing at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Molson is also listed as a defensive back on the John Abbott College football team roster. He has upcoming visits scheduled for Stanford and UCLA.
