With fellow Georgia 2017 prospect Richard LeCounte insisting on playing safety despite being an obvious cornerback prospect, Gibbs took one for the team and manned a cornerback spot throughout the 7-on-7 tournament. Despite it not being his natural position, the 6-foot-1, 199-pound Gibbs stepped up and got better as the night went on for Team Flurry, registering an interception and four pass break-ups in five games.

Seems like Salomon wont be a 5 star any longer. Kind of sad that one bad day will erase everything they saw before that day. Still want the kid has some great film and I think we will get the best out of him.

It was one good day in Miami that got him to a 5* in the first place.
He'll have to pull a George Campbell like they said, you aren't a 5* if you're so streaky against top talent. Campbell eventually took an upswing in consistency...

I could care less if he is a 5 star but he is good. Not too many out there better in this class. Would love to have him.

We should definitely push hard for Pineiro now.

Maybe this means we have a good shot with the kid who dominated our camp?

McCann won the FG competition. Granted, Pineiro didn't participate in the afternoon session because he was talking to Saban, but McCann won it with a 58 yarder.

Either way I cant get excited. Griffith had great videos too. In one of those videos the Juco missed a 30 yarder I believe. Just imagine how its going to be in game situations. Id rather we had tried to get McCann.

Here's the video I think you are talking about. I don't think he missed the 30 yarder. He pumped his fist after watching it.

Ahh. I thought everything I read said Piniero was the better of the two.

LOL fist pump or not he missed that shite lol. Id love to have him just for kick offs at least but they would frick that up and tell him just to kick it high instead of kicking it out the endzone.

Uprights extend upwards infinitely, it was within them on the angle to me as well.

He still missed easy field goals at A-Day. I feel sorry for him. He's probably a great kid, but he's not a good kicker. With as much as we are replacing on offense this year, we could have used a dependable kicker. Why our staff didn't sign one in the 2015 class is beyond me.
Good post especially the part about the rebuilding offense. I would add that Griffith failed to beat out a sub-par kicker in Cade Foster two years in a row. He was 2-4 on FGs in A-day this year after going 1-3 the year before. He just hasn't shown anything to indicate he's a reliable kicker. Maybe the juco kicker isn't any better; I don't know. But I wouldn't put all my eggs in the Griffith basket even though I am rooting for the him to turn it around.

I think he was the better of the two. He beat McCann in the FG and kickoff contests in the morning session.
Saban called Pineiro to his office to talk while the afternoon session was going on and McCann won that FG contest.

Marlon Davidson will be in Tuscaloosa for the next 3 days.

For the most part, Marlon Davidson has kept his recruitment close to his chest.
He has yet to name any leaders or favorites, but admits he is getting closer to a decision.
"I am narrowing it down," said the Greenville five-star defensive end. "But I'm not ready to tell."
Among recruiting reporters, Auburn holds all 18 predictions for Davidson in the 247Sports Crystal Ball. His older brother, Kenneth Carter, played for the Tigers from 2010-2013 and is currently an assistant to the coaching staff.
Davidson opted to visit Auburn last Saturday for Big Cat Weekend instead of traveling to LSU with his friends, five-star linebackers Ben Davis and Lyndell Wilson.
"The message was, 'We need you here, we'd love to have you playing for our school and just remember, War Eagle,'" Davidson said. "That's what I got all day from Coach (Rodney) Garner, Coach (Will) Muschamp and Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson). I just had fun."
The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder is among Auburn's top priorities on the defensive line, a list that also includes fellow five-star prospect Derrick Brown. Auburn's 2016 recruiting class lost two defensive linemen this week, as David Marshall and Quinnen Williams both decided to decommit.
Auburn's biggest threat for the 6-foot-4, 260-pound Davidson continues to be Alabama, but he isn't ruling out leaving the state.
"Right now, the schools recruiting me the hardest are Auburn and Bama, because they're my in-state schools and they are going to stay on me the most," Davidson said. "I would love to see some out of state schools come at me more often and know that they have still have a shot at getting me if they just recruit me."
Davidson is currently nursing an ankle sprain he suffered while playing basketball and expects to be off the foot for four to five weeks. He hopes to return to the Plains in late July or early August before he begins school at Greenville.
As for a commitment, he's planning to make a decision by November if he graduates early. If not, it will likely come a week before National Signing Day in February.
Davidson is currently ranked as the nation's No. 2 overall prospect by Rivals. He is ranked No. 23 in the 247Sports Composite.
