FREDDIE SWAIN TRIMS HIS LIST TO SEVEN
Corey Bender

According to Citra (Fla.) North Marion head coach Stephen Field, prized wide receiver and four-star prospect on Scout, Freddie Swain, has trimmed his list of suitors to seven with school getting out for the summer this week.

The schools that are still in the running for Swain's coveted signature next February are Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan, USC, Georgia, Miami and South Carolina. In addition to his official visits in the fall, Swains says he plans on visiting each of his suitors over the summertime as well.

Swain says all seven schools are on a level playing field, but Miami is the program that's put on the full court press and currently recruiting him the hardest.

Swain is a polished route runner and smooth athlete that does an outstanding job of attacking the pigskin at its highest point. The wide receiver shows good body control and balance when making acrobatic catches, but can stretch the field and take it the distance when given space as well. He's a well-rounded receiver that does a little bit of everything for North Marion.

Swain, who will be enrolling enrolling early, plans on making his decision known on Oct. 10 when North Marion squares off with Hoover (Ala.) High.

I have no reason to believe this, but I think Cavin commits to Alabama. The Ridley brothers split out wide

JAREZ PARKS IS FLOODED WITH BIG-TIME OFFERS
Corey Bender
Florida Recruiting Analyst
This story was originally published on ScoutFootball.com.

Alabama, Florida State, Miami and Florida are some of the early offers on the table for Jarez Parks, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive end and rising junior out of Sebastian (Fla.) Sebastian River.

Entering just his second year of organized football at a clean 6-foot-5, 255 pounds, it's frightening to imagine where Jarez Parks' ceiling is along the defensive line. The 2017 prospect out of Sebastian (Fla.) Sebastian River is a smooth athlete and one that absorbed my full attention at a 7-on-7 tournament at the University of Miami last weekend.

Equipped with intriguing opportunities on the recruiting front from the likes of Alabama, Florida State, Florida, South Carolina, Michigan, Clemson and Miami, a boatload of college programs lined up at the doors of Sebastian River during the spring evaluation period, and understandably so.

Parks, who racked up 13 sacks as a sophomore in 2014, showed freakish ability over the weekend and was dropping back and flipping his hips in coverage at nearly 260 pounds. He's pretty light on his feet and could pack on an additional 30 pounds without hindering much of his athletic ability.

A lifelong fan of the Florida Gators, Parks shows good closing speed and an impressive motor coming off the edge. For a player of his stature, Parks is loaded with athleticism and relentless when tracking down the quarterback.

Labeled as a four-star prospect on Scout, Parks is still in the infantile stage of his development as a football player, and will become even more dominant as he gets stronger and more familiar with the game overall.
In the video below, Parks lists the schools that have extended scholarship offers, his interest in Florida State and Alabama, his strengths along the defensive front, the additional sports he participates in and more.

Note: Parks says in the video that he doesn't have an offer on the table from Florida, but his head coach tells me Jim McElwain's has indeed offered him.

S300 DE SIMMONS SEES ‘BAMA AS ‘GOOD FIT’
John Garcia Jr.John Garcia Jr.
Recruiting Analyst

Alabama hosted a bevy of rising-senior prospects for its initial camp session, including Scout 300 defensive end Jeffery Simmons of Mississippi. The offered four-star, who said he went undefeated during one-on-ones, spent considerable time with Nick Saban and Bo Davis while in town.

One of Alabama’s priorities on the edge for the 2016 cycle is Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County defensive end Jeffery Simmons, a Scout300 prospect with additional offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, Vanderbilt and others.

The rising-senior was in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday to work out for Nick Saban and defensive line coach Bo Davis with his new 6-foot-4, 268-pound frame. Simmons played under 250 pounds as a standout junior.

“It went pretty well, I did drills with coach Davis and he was surprised with me,” he said. “I was in front of every drill and showed a lot of power coming off the ball and doing the drills right. I had a chance to do one-on-ones, I went at least seven or eight times, and won every last one of them. They really liked that.”

Simmons said the style of the Crismon Tide workouts, from the current team’s to the camp itself, stands out. His potential position coach, should he sign with Alabama, fits into that as well.

“Everything is fast, they don’t like to repeat things,” he said. “They tell you something one time, and they expect you to do it. Watching their guys working out, I rolled up with coach Davis and his defensive line, they know what he expected.

“It’s my style. If I’m going to go to your school or your camp, I want to be taught. He taught me hand placement, was a straight-up dude, telling me what to fix when I was wrong. I think he’s a pretty good coach. He was telling me I’m one of his top priorities, especially coming off the edge. He said he’s going to keep doing his job recruiting me and that he really wants me to be a part of the family.”

After the on-field work, one of the Magnolia State’s best got the chance to talk to the program leader.

“I had the chance to sit down again with coach Saban. It’s a highlight because many people, especially at camp, with over 300 kids there, don’t get it,” Simmons said. “Talking to him again was great, he was telling me he liked what he saw and that he had the chance to watch me do one-on-ones. He says I really fit into his program and that it’s the best fit for me.”

The busy Tuesday featured conversations with others while in Tuscaloosa as well.
“I had the chance to talk to big Willie, the big offensive tackle (Willie Allen). I know him from other camps,” he said. “For Alabama, I got the chance to talk to (D.J.) Pettway and (Jarran) Reed. Some of it was information, but they were telling me to keep working and that they were hearing good things about me. They told me to choose wisely.”

Simmons added Alabama’s positional plan for him could be on the edge as a JACK linebacker prospect or along the defensive front as a five-technique end ala Pettway. The news, time with coaches and players and camp experience all added up to a positive impression for the defending SEC champions.

“I don’t have any favorites, but I’m really kind of starting to like them more,” Simmons said. “If I ever choose them, I think it would be a good fit for me. If I do choose them, especially with my positon off the edge, I would probably be able to play my freshman year. That’s something I really want to do, to play my freshman year.”

In no rush to accelerate the process, Simmons isn’t planning on narrowing his list until just before his final high school campaign begins. A decision could come after the season, as he searches for a program based on the environment and relationship he has with the coaches at the school of choice.

In the short-term, he’ll join his Noxubee County teammates for seven-on-seven events at Mississippi State on Friday and Ole Miss on Saturday. Simmons would like to see LSU and Vanderbilt sometime this summer, too.

IN-STATE QB FREE THROWS FOR LANE KIFFIN
John Garcia Jr.John Garcia Jr.
Recruiting Analyst

Alabama hosted several talented quarterbacks during its initial prospect camp of the season, with in-state standout Jacob Fee among the group.

In May, class of 2017 Brantley (Ala.) High School quarterback Jacob Free picked up his first offer, from in-state and semi-local program Troy.

He kicked off June with a workout elsewhere in the Yellowhammer State, in front of Nick Saban and company at the University of Alabama.

"I thought I did well," he said. "And it was great to be able to talk to coach Saban and coach (Lane) Kiffin today. They said that they were glad I could make it and they were excited to see me throw!"

The time with Kiffin was more of a teaching session.

"He just gave me tips and showed me things I could do to be better," Free said. "But overall, he acted like I threw well and I thought I did. My footwork was a little off but he said that I could fix that with practice.

"I was impressed with the coaching staff. They do a great job. Just blessed to have the opportunity."

Free, who added that Alabama had exclusive video of the workout, headed to Mississippi State after his work in Tuscaloosa.

PASS TALKS FINAL FIVE

Analysis: Pass has the size and athleticism to draw a lot of attention as soon as schools see him. He has those intangibles that you like to see in a quarterback. He has a quiet confidence about him and he always seems to be under control on the football field. The vision is there and just has a good feel for the game. As a passer, he is still raw in terms of fundamentals with room to improve in delivery and footwork. Can make needed throws. Mobile.

The four-star quarterback said that Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia Tech were the schools he's still considering and he talked about all five schools, participating in the Elite 11 Semifinals and more.

Don't know what's scarier, Jones accidentally hitting Greg Little in the face during a rep or Little taking the hit and still winning the 1-on-1.
