Sorry man. Nebraska was going for 3/4 and was defending national champions. It's nothing against Michigan but the AP bailed them out. They even gave Woodson the Heisman.

Terry Godwin is visiting Bama today. He will spend the night. Don't think we have much of a shot here, but you never know.

From a poster on the LSUrb who supposedly coaches Daylon Charlot. TIFWIW.

quote:

LSU has a better shot at Mykel Jones next year than flipping Daylon this year. Unless things really heat up during the season or in January.

I'm very much an LSU fan, graduated from there last August. But now Coaching these guys and being around them a lot I realize the pressures of being a major recruit. As much as I want them all to attend LSU I realize it's not always their best choice for them to be successful. I will never tell them to go else where but I won't be mad or try and sway them if they pick another school.

Mykels top 4 are LSU, Texas, USC, and FSU. Texas is slowly fading now tho. He told me he wants to change his phone number right now bc they call him so much. He finds that very annoying.

As said before, Daylon never had an offer from LSU and when he got it he was very excited initially but now he's back focused on being committed to Bama and finishing his senior year strong. That's why I say things could change after the season is over in January. That being said LSU is still in the picture but it's not likely.

According to 90% of posters on that board LSU is taking whoever they want and leaving nothing but scraps for everyone else.

This guy seemed a little bit balanced which is why I posted it. Seems like Daylon was excited about the LSU offer, but focused right now on being a Bama commit.

After summer to remember, Alabama quarterback commit Blake Barnett moves focus to senior season

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Blake Barnett's summer vacation ends today, and what an experience it was.

Among the highlights from the summer of Barnett, a 6-foot-4 quarterback from Corona, Calif., include decommitting from Notre Dame and committing to Alabama, winning the Elite 11 quarterback challenge at NIKE's The Opening and taking his team to a 7-on-7 championship, developing a bond with future Crimson Tide teammates and going skydiving.

All's in a summer's work. On Monday, Barnett returns to Santiago High School for the first day of his senior year with now a 5-star status on all the major recruiting services. That came mostly from his dominating performance at The Opening, where he excelled against some of the top defensive players in the country.

"It was a big mentality and confidence booster, I would say," Barnett said. "Obviously, confidence to bring my game forward and help my team out, not confidence with being cocky because, by all means, I pride myself on not letting that take over with this whole recruitment process. It gave me some self-confidence to go out and lead my team and hopefully have a successful year this year and then hopefully onto the next level."

After leaving The Opening, Barnett went skydiving with his father and a family friend. He didn't publicize much about the trip beforehand, but said that a film crew documenting the Elite 11 shot the event. The next scheduled Elite 11 TV show comes on Sunday, Aug. 17 on ESPNU at 7 p.m. It is titled "Journey to Greatness: The 2014 Elite 11."

"It was awesome," Barnett said. "It was pretty scary, I'm not going to lie, but it was a fun experience. I'd recommend it and I'd definitely do it again."

Barnett got a chance to meet and bond with all of the Alabama commitments, plus several uncommitted recruits, at The Opening. At the time, 10 recruits were committed to Alabama. An 11th in Nashville cornerback Rico McGraw recently committed to the Crimson Tide.

"It was the first time we really all got to meet together like that since we all live in different parts of the U.S.," Barnett said. "It was nice to know them and talk to them. Obviously I'll be seeing them at games, but the faster we build relationships, the better we'll be."

He built a big connection with receiver Calvin Ridley, the overall Most Valuable Player at The Opening. Ridley was on Barnett's 7-on-7 team and the two connected on several touchdown passes.

"I became close friends with Calvin on that trip," Barnett said. "We also performed pretty well with our team. It was a fast connection and it was strong so it's nice to have that relationship going into college together.

"He's a tremendous player. He has everything you'd want in a receiver. He has size, he's quick, he has good hands and runs good routes. He's overall just a great player."

The 7-on-7 championship was televised live at The Opening on ESPN3 and tape-delayed on ESPNU. Before the game started, former NFL quarterback and Elite 11 head quarterback coach Trent Dilfer told ESPN announcers that Barnett was going to win the Elite 11 quarterback award.

Near the end of the 7-on-7 championship at The Opening, with the game in hand, Dilfer gave Barnett the big news.

"That was an awesome feeling, especially to be winning the championship game at that point," Barnett said. "We had a successful two days as a team and to get that news, it was very exciting and very honoring."

Barnett said he's been in contact with the Alabama recruits on a daily basis since The Opening. He said he plans making a few trips to Tuscaloosa this fall, but wasn't sure which games yet.

He did say he plans on making his official visit for the Iron Bowl against Auburn during the final weekend of November. Barnett will enroll at Alabama in January 2015.

For now, it's on to his senior season for coach Jeff Steinberg and Santiago High School. The Sharks open the regular season on Aug. 29 against Redlands.

"We're looking to have a pretty good season," said Barnett, who enters his second season as a full-time starter. "Our offense is getting together really good and the defense is as well, so hopefully it will be a really good one."

WILSON, HAMILTON BOND CONTINUES
John Garcia Jr.
Recruiting Analyst

Shaun Hamilton was the cornerstone of the Montgomery-Carver defense for the last few years, but those keys have been turned over to 2016 five-star Lyndell “Mack” Wilson with Hamilton departed for the University of Alabama. Still, the two remain in contact as reuniting at the next level remains a possibility.

One of the top juniors in the country, Lyndell Wilson has risen to become arguably the most coveted prospect in Alabama over the last six months or so.

Scout.com ranks him as its No. 6 overall prospect in the class of 2016, as a five-star outside linebacker projection.
“I’m not letting anything get to my head, I can get better,” he said Friday. “I’m staying up on my grades and all, and I’m real proud of myself for being named a five-star. I’m very competitive, I have a big heart and I’m not scared of anything. I’m the type to always sell out for the little things, diving, always willing to put in extra on the field.”

The Montgomery (Ala.) Carver High standout admits that he wasn’t always thought of as a top-tier prospect, using help from a former Wolverine standout to ascend to this point.

“When he was here, Shaun Hamilton helped me. He stayed on me about the little things,” Wilson said. “Shaun taught me a lot. He used to pull aside and talk to me around anything I’m doing, take me to the classroom to watch film. He’d teach me there, and would just show me the little things on the field, like knowing what plays will be run.
“Every time we did drills, I went up against him…he just taught me a lot of things. He just taught me how to be a football player. I thank him for that, I basically say he took me under his wing and showed me everything.”

Hamilton is now a freshman linebacker at Alabama, wrapping up his first fall camp after graduating as Carver’s valedictorian. He finished early and enrolled at UA in January before participating in spring ball. Though still adjusting to college life, the former three-star linebacker still finds time to catch up with his protégé.

“I talk to Shaun almost every week, even though they’re busy up there practicing and everything,” Wilson said. “I keep my eye on him just to see how he’s doing, and they say he’s doing very well. He knows all the plays, and there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll get playing time this year.”
Wilson, should he choose, has the chance to join Hamilton at the next level. He was offered by Alabama in April, during a flurry of verbal offers to come in from coaches after many staffs saw him in person. Auburn, Ole Miss, Louisville and Miami did the same that month.

Still using the word “shocked” when talking about his in-state SEC extensions, no further hints are being given on the recruiting front.

“My family was very proud of me, I grew up an Alabama fan, all my family Alabama fans,” Wilson said. “They’re going to support me wherever I go, they just say, ‘make the right decision.’ I’m not going to say that I’m going to Alabama, I’m not looking into colleges right now…but I talk to Shaun Hamilton a lot and he always talks about teaming up at Alabama.

“But at the end of the day, it’s going to be my decision where to go.”

Ranked as the No. 2 outside linebacker in America’s junior class, Wilson maintains that he’s in no rush to make a commitment. Instead, he’s trying to help Carver to an undefeated 2014 campaign, led by what he calls the state’s top defense.

Charlot is now in Tuscaloosa for the scrimmage instead of visiting LSU as previously planned.

They didn't want him anyway.

That one dude dropped a hammer on their confidence when he debunked the statements about Charlot being related to the Hilliards of LSU.

#Bama and #UGA flip each other in the last two weeks or so (McGraw, Ledbetter). Wouldn't be surprised to see maybe one more each way by Feb

Who do you think he is referring to? Godwin to Bama and Rico back to UGA?

Seriously. I'm surprised that there hasn't been more mention of him with Bama. He is a stud.

ETA: Looks like he will now find a place in my top five uncommitted recruits.

2012 BCSNCG is on. I think LSU will win big. Bama's fat linebackers don't have a chance against Jordan Jefferson's option.
