Fitzpatrick

Speaking of him, here's a story about how he overcame his house being destroyed in Hurricane Irene in 2011:

Alabama just signed one of the best recruiting classes ever last week, so the depth chart may start making 2015 recruits think twice about committing to the Crimson Tide.

That may be the case with 5-star defensive end Mekhi Brown, who hails from Carver High School in Georgia. Brown told Hale McGranahan of CUTigers.com (subscription required) that Stanford and Florida State interest him, with Clemson also being in the mix.

Rashaan Evans talks for the first time since NSD (TideSports):

"It's getting worse," Evans said on Monday evening. "Someone actually put out an article about my family's business telling all Auburn fans not to go there. We are going to eventually start losing money. People are telling restaurants in the town not to serve us.

Absolutely pathetic.

The One Who Got Away: 5-star running back Leonard Fournette (New Orleans, La.)

Where He Signed: LSU

Alabama won't warrant much sympathy after assembling the nation's No. 1 recruiting class for a fourth straight year, according to 247Sports composite rankings. It's a group that includes America's top-rated players at several positions and six 5-star prospects, punctuated by signing day surprise Rashaan Evans.

Still, Nick Saban's latest star-studded haul could have been even better. The Crimson Tide emerged as the only legitimate threat to LSU for prized St. Augustine High School playmaker Leonard Fournette, ranked the nation's No. 1 overall recruit.

The running back spoke highly of his visit to Tuscaloosa in November, when he watched Alabama beat the Tigers. Aside from Les Miles, Saban was the only coach to land an official visit from Fournette.

He ultimately chose LSU in early January at the Under Armour All-America Game.

“It was close,” St. Augustine head coach Cyril Crutchfield told Advocate reporter Ted Lewis. “Leonard had a strong relationship with both schools, and he couldn’t go wrong either way. It finally swayed to LSU. And once he had made his decision, he was done.”

The "one that got away" for the 2013 class will always be Zach Whitley

He'll be a beast for UCLA

ETA: for me

From what I can tell it's going to be a Bama/MSU battle for Lewis.

You don't think LSU offering will put them in the mix even with the proximity to his hometown?

Enough said.

Seriously though. They may get an OV, probably the weekend of the Alabama game, but I think it's going to come down to us and State. Ole Miss will probably finish third.

That's a crock of shite. We've signed five #1 classes under Nick Saban. What does the difference in the 2014 class, compared to previous ones, and how it will effect the following year's class?
