Piersbacher can play all 5 spots on the line a la Grant Hill.

Which one of our freshmen will get the back up center spot? I'm leaning towards the kid from Minnesota and Casher getting a look at guard.

I think Casher sticks at Center and Hassenauer moves to Guard, actually. Casher doesn't have the size to play Guard.

I don't think either one of them played Center in high school though.

Check out this Sophomore from Gordo:

Highlights

Some of you may remember his father, Alabama's career tackling leader Wayne Davis.

With Casher, he's listed at 6'1" and under 300 pounds. I think Hassenauer would make the better Center, but he has the size to play Guard, Casher doesn't.

I like shorter Guards. They don't lose the leverage battle.

While that's true, he may be too short. He was listed at 6'1" coming out of HS, so he's maybe roughly 6'0".

Does that have advantages? Definitely, but I just don't think he's ideally a Guard. He's a good talent and I'm certain he'd make it work, but I'd prefer my Guards to be 6'2" at least. That's just my opinion though. It means nothing.

Davis is really good at using his hands to get off blocks, I can't believe he is just a soph. I wish they would go ahead and offer him. Don't we normally have some sophomores committed by now?

For 2014-15, Hassenauer will be the backup center. Casher is like a black William Vlachos, could see hass moving to guard eventually

No he wasn't. I'm trying to remember who played C for the 2nd team on Aday

Grant Hill is penciled in there right now. I'd be willing to bet JC will be the backup center after Fall camp.

Just watched Joe Burrow's film. I like this guy the most of any QB we have evaluated/offered post-Town and arrival of Kiffin. He is very athletic, has a great arm. He looks down field on passing plays, tries to stretch the field vertically before looking to extend the play, or use his feet to get a first down.

Burrow was the Gatorade POY for Ohio as a Junior.

I like him on film but Trey and other people from Ohio say he plays against horrible competition.

I think our QB targets are Burrow, Dormady, Waller and Sills.

Yeah def looks like the competition is pretty lousy, I watched Nunez's film afterward and the defense was 3x as fast and very noticeable.

We had a walk on with the twos during A day. I think that points to a true freshman being the backup. I don't remember any media reports of Hill playing much center in spring but I could easily be incorrect.
