Virginia Tech and Georgia State are the latest to offer Alabama commit Mekhi Brown, the Columbus (Ga.) Carver prospect tweets. Brown, who has been committed to the Crimson Tide for over a year, holds double-digit offers from most of the nation's top programs. The top 50 prospect last visited Bama for A-Day and says he's 100% committed to the Tide. Brown also plans to take five official visits to Stanford, UNC, Miss. State, and LSU/Texas A&M in addition to Alabama.

South Carolina is picked to win the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division this coming season by The Sporting News College Football Yearbook. The publication mentioned that the Gamecocks also would play in the Gator Bowl for the first time since 1987, meaning they would fall short in the SEC Championship Game against predicted SEC West champion Alabama.

quote:seems kind of ridiculous that they have 6 florida state players going in the first round. not gonna happen
247 did a mock draft for next year. They have Amari cooper and Landon Collins in the top ten. It is very early though.

Rising offensive tackle Jalen Merrick (New Smyrna Beach, Fla.) says that Florida, South Carolina and Georgia are the three programs who are the most consistent in recruiting him hard. The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder with a 395-pound bench press has only played one year of football. His father played baseball at Miami (Fla.) and is a Canes football season ticket holder. This summer, Merrick wants to visit Alabama and Kentucky, along with the Gamecocks, Gators and Bulldogs and make a decision after those trips. Merrick has a 3.8 G.P.A. and has two dozen scholarship offers to his credit.

Don't be sorry. It gives us an idea of where we stand.

Early indeed, but those two are definitely first round talents. They just have to finish their Bama careers on a high note. Cooper is insanely polished for a CFB WR.

Even though it's early, I can easily see those two in the first round.. it would be great if we could get 2 in the top ten just for recruiting purposes.

Could be those two.
In a few years C-Rob, Hand, Brown, Hump, and Evans may all be in the same draft class.

Can't wait to witness that

Tampa won't have the 2nd overall pick...unless they trade up (doubtful especially considering Licht only made 1 trade, in the 5th round)

The Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour was an unqualified, off-the-charts success in its second year with top prospects from around the nation competing at 16 different locations across the country. The Rivals.com recruiting analysts had a tough time breaking down the best of the best across all camps and today we look at five prospects that dominated on both sides of the ball at their respective camp.
quote:
3. ATH Deionte Thompson
Orange (Tx.) West Orange Stark
Thompson took on multiple roles at the Houston RCS, and showed out as strong as anyone in attendance at both wide receiver and defensive back. He ran crisps routes, showed excellent hands, and great body control throughout the day. He committed early to [Alabama, but he just re-opened his recruiting process. He is still committed to Alabama, but he will take visits with Texas and Texas A&M among those to watch.
4. ATH Terry Godwin
Hogansville (Ga.) Callaway
Godwin is thought by many to be one of the best defensive backs in the country but at the RCS Atlanta stop he showed that he might also be one of the country's most dynamic offensive playmakers. When it comes to football speed Godwin is flat-out one of the speediest players in the nation. He also took reps at defensive back when challenged and basically went unblemished in one-on-ones. Godwin committed to Georgia earlier this year, but Auburn hasn't given up in its pursuit. While Godwin hasn't given any indication that he's having second thoughts, don't expect Auburn to give up anytime soon.
5. ATH Minkah Fitzpatrick
Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep
Fitzpatrick is one of the top rated defensive backs in the 2015 class but excelled on both sides of the ball at the New Jersey RCS. As a defensive back his ability to cover a very large area made him one of the most successful defensive backs at the camp and on offense his speed really gave the other defense backs fits. A few weeks ago Fitzpatrick committed to Alabama and looks like he will be a key piece to the Crimson Tide's secondary for years to come.
Our secondary is going to be fricking scary in a few years.

I legitimately think we're gonna end up setting first round records with this 2014 class.
