What are some other 2016 names to watch out for?

Feleipe Franks
Jawon Pass
Shea Patterson
Josh White
Tyler Johnston

I really like Shea Patterson's film. He's legit. He is committed to Arizona and Rich Rod right now. His brother is on staff there too.

I haven't watched any of the other 2016 guys though. We don't even have a 2015 guy yet.

Thompson just gave us the kiss of death:

quote:

Now that he's returned to Alabama, where does Thompson stand with is commitment to the Crimson Tide?

"My commitment is still 100% to Alabama," he said.

5-star DT Daron Payne is one of the strongest prospects in the 2015 cycle. That's evidenced by his gaudy weight room numbers, including a recent 460 pound bench rep.

Payne has a top group of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and Texas. He last visited Alabama on April 19 for the Crimson Tide's A-Day and was visited by recruiter Mario Cristobal last week. The Tide hold a significant advantage in Payne's Crystal Ball, accounting for 97% of the picks.

Payne ranks as the no. 14 overall prospect, no. 4 DT, and no. 1 prospect in the state of Alabama according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Reid, who is ranked the No. 1 player from Pennsylvania by 247Sports, has unofficially visited Alabama, Maryland, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Penn State up to this point and plans to visit Michigan this summer. He talks about what he’s liked about each program.

Alabama: “Alabama visit was great. It’s the second time I’ve been down there. I went down there for a service trip my eighth grade year with our high school going into my freshman year and then I went down there last year for camp. It was a great. It was a new experience. I got family in Georgia so it’s close enough. I got really close family down there. It makes up for me being away from home.

“Coach Saban, he coaches his players hard. The way I’ve been coached, I’ve been coached hard. People are hard on me, but at the end of the day they love me as a person. I love that and I felt that’s how it is with coach Saban down there. I feel like reaching my potential down there, I feel like he can really help me do that."

Based on my opinion, and assuming we get Payne and Settle, oh and CeCe Jefferson, but I'm doubtful:

2 of the top 3 DTs, including the best (IMO, Settle)

2 of the top 7 DEs

The Top LB

The 3rd best Corner

The 3rd best Safety

One quick note on the whole scheduling thing and then I'm done.

Everybody on the Rant is bitching that this is all for Alabama so we can get a guaranteed victory over Tennessee every year.

If that's the case, why the frick is Tennessee adamant about keeping the TSIO alive? Are they just gluttons for fricking punishment?

Jesus people are stupid.

I don't understand their way of thinking. They act like the best West teams should play the best East teams. What if an unexpected team is the best in one division, like Auburn last year? Under that way of thinking, Auburn would have played a weaker schedule and get slammed for it.

It makes no sense.

Not just that, but:

Strength 8.00 out of 10

This will improve with time.

quote:

Hand Quickness 7.00 out of 10

As will this, especially under Bo Davis.

It's too bad we didn't get him in 1999.

ETA: I know we had just come off a SEC Championship and had the preseason #3 team in the country that offseason, but damn it would have been nice to have gotten Saban then instead of Shula the next year.

HBC on Bama's recruiting:

quote:

“There’s nothing fair about college football. You know that, don’t you?” he asked. “If it was fair, Alabama would have to sit out a year of recruiting. They’ve had the No. 1 class five out of six years. That’s like giving an NFL team the first five picks in the first and second round every year -- almost.

He would've left us for the pros. I think it worked out best. We caught him after he scratched that itch
