Daron Payne was supposed to visit AU yesterday. Didn't show up. In related news Niebuhr put his CB pick in for Payne to Bama.

Kipp Adams feels after speaking with his sources feel that Auburn is the team trending right now for Kerryon Johnson. Says those same sources feel that Bama is not confident in landing him.. Fwiw.

Sills says he plans to return to the Alabama's June prospect camp and throw for the Tide staff.

“I haven’t (been offered by Alabama), they said that I have to go to camp because their policy for quarterbacks is coach Saban has to see them throw live before he offers them.

“I really liked the visit and I am going to come back for camp and try to do my best so I can get an offer from them and we will go from there, but I really liked the visit a lot and I was really happy I went.”

FWIW, Mississippi State offered Sills this weekend.

This is what Charles Power had to say regarding Kerryon Johnson yesterday:

quote:

Johnson done a really good job of keeping things close to the vest. I'm going to stick with my Bama Crystal Ball pick until I hear otherwise, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes with any of the three. UA and Lane Kiffin did a great job with him on his last visit, so definitely some reason for optimism from that standpoint. We'll let y'all know more info as we get it.

From some dude on BOL:

quote:

Like I have said before I live in Madison and know many people in and around the MA program. However a friend of his that I coached a few years back went out of his way to tell me he believes Kerryon is "ring hunting" and his number one thing is simply winning championships. He told me he really wanted to play RB, but that lately he has really opened up to playing S, and he said if he jumps on board with playing S he will be at Alabama. Said FSU losing Pruitt was huge, and that right now Alabama is where he thinks he goes. Again this is a HS student, but an LSU fan (unbiased). Not an amazing source, but a friend of Kerryon.

Top LB to visit Bama: Brookhaven (Miss.) linebacker Leo Lewis will visit Alabama next weekend, he tells Bulldawgs247's Paul Jones. Lewis visited Mississippi State this weekend and tripped to Ole Miss on back-to-back weekends within the past month. The Magnolia State prospect last visited Alabama on February 1 for the Tide's junior day.

Lewis ranks as the no. 65 overall prospect, no. 1 inside linebacker, and no. 3 senior in the state of Mississippi according to 247Sports. Alabama holds 93% of the picks in his 247Sports Crystal Ball with Ole Miss accounting for the remaining 7%.

1. Leo Lewis

LB, Brookhaven High School

Status: Undecided

Offers: Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, California, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA

One glance at Leo Lewis’ offer sheet tells you what kind of talent you’re dealing with. He’s the rare prospect that can really have his pick of a school from coast to coast. The 6-3, 225-pounder’s film exploded last November when he had, count ‘em, zero offers. The Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce should notice an increase in tourism this spring as college coaches roll into town.

Right now, Lewis’ Crystal Ball reads 93 percent Alabama. The six days he recently spent in Oxford over an 11-day span hasn’t caught the attention of some of his forecasters yet. It will. The Rebels are contenders for him.

2. Jamal Peters

S, Bassfield High School

Status: Undecided

Offers: Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, California, Clemson, Georgia, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, LSU, Southern Miss, TCU, Tennessee, Florida

Jamal Peters has been hard to figure out. His Crystal Ball shows 60 percent to Mississippi State, 20 percent to Alabama, 10 percent to LSU and 10 percent foggy. What it doesn’t show is any level of confidence that Ole Miss has gained any ground in the race. The Rebels aren’t out of it for the 6-3, 200-pounder that rates as the No. 2 safety in the nation per the 247Sports Composite, but there is much work to do. Auburn seems to have recently made some strides as well.

Peters maintains he will be back at Ole Miss in June for camp. That will be a very important day for the Rebels in their hope of closing what is a perceived gap.
