It was extremely disheartening to see.
Seeing such a great young man and teammate who plays selflessly with such a warrior's heart now have both his football career and quality of life dealing with enduring hip pain/discomfort was gut wrenching.
Prayers to him, but I'm confident his faith and attitude will move him on successfully to whatever the future holds.

Tua seems to be in good spirits in this pic.

Still feel sick over this.

We will never forget this, those images forever. Even if he makes a full recovery.
It was too sad.

You talking just Alabama football?

I mean, we've had several big name players actually get career ending injuries in just the last 20 years.

General sports in which I had a rooting interest in the player and/or team. We haven't had many in front of you, immediately knew by the end of the day season ending with possible career ending injuries, and certainly not to a guy with a future like that.
Prothro's was not until it was bungled at DCH, so it was awful but it was just ugly and awful (and like I said earlier, I literally had the exact same injury so it was a little different internally for me than others probably). Drake probably falls in that same category.
Marvin Constant obviously was, but that was 20 years ago. Who else? I mean I'm sure I'm forgetting some guys.
Terrell Lewis' one against FSU was pretty damn gutwrenching considering how hard he worked to get back.
Brodie's continuing injuries were bad, but he (and we) got to have 2005.
Eddie Jackson's 2nd one was pretty shitty.
The closest comparison for me is Ronald Steele, but his was more the culmination of injuries over time.

I would add a guy like A.C. Carter, but Constant, Steele, A.C., and Prothro were the ones that immediately came to mind.
And I think there was at least some concern that Prothro wouldn't make it back.
Those were just the Alabama related ones. I still tear up when thinking of something like Konstantinov's car crash. Still feel bad when thinking of Stuart Holden's knee injuries and Charlie Davies's car crash.

I was actually thinking about AC the other day - what was his injury exactly and did it happen during a game? I couldn't remember at all. That little guy was so awesome.

Yea - like I said, I literally had the exact same injury that ocurred in almost the exact same way (running a route, landing funny, guy falling on me). So I felt awful for him but it was also just kind of a weird situation where everyone non-stop would ask me about it so I almost felt involved. It was strange.
I do vividly remember thinking that he was definitely going to be back in 2006 at some point and believing any rumor that said he would. I definitely choked up when he came out in pads against Auburn.

Yea - for me, outside of my teams, Jose Fernandez is probably the one I identify with the most. Just gut wrenching. Obviously that was a death, so a little different, but man it was awful.
Chipper ripping up his knee in Houston when it felt like it might be the end was pretty rough. Same when Hudson broke his ankle at 1B in New York.

I think he broke the tibia in his right leg. I don't think it was during a game. Found an article that said he had surgery in the off-season prior to the 2002 season to put in a metal rod.

It was a recurring thing to, wasn't it? Or maybe it happened and he wasn't the same and then it got re-injured.
I just remember he so highly recruited and so damn special in 1999 and then he kind of faded away.

I think he had a lot of trouble with it and ultimately was never the same. Ended up getting one or two medical redshirts. They may have put him in for one play late in his final season.

1999: 29 catches, 280 yards, 3 TD.
2000: 45 catches, 586 yards, 1 TD.
2001: 32 catches, 428 yards, 1 TD.

Probably the 1st most heartbreaking injury I can remember from an Alabama player was Kerry Goode in 1984 against Boston College.
Kerry was a prize recruit for Ray Perkins as he had led Hazelwood to 81 & 82 state Championship wins as a workhorse Rb.
BC was led by Qb Doug Flutie.
Goode returned the 2nd half opening kickoff for a TD to give Alabama a 31-14 lead.
At that point he had amazingly accumulated nearly 300 yards of total offense in the game.
Shortly into the 3rd quarter Goode suffered a season ending knee injury.
Alabama would not score again after his injury & Flutie led BC to a 38-31 win.
Goode played 2 more years but was never the same speed wise, playing mostly as a Fullback.
Flutie would finish off his senior season in 84 with the great hailmary pass to beat Miami & go on to win the Heisman trophy.
We'll never know how great Goode would have been.
Today, he is herocially battling the ALS syndrome.
