What was there to pan out ? Metchie? Everybody is is freshman or sophomores
WR is a position that's amenable to instant impact. The great WRs typically come in great. Look at the great WRs to come through Bama. They were studs from jump. We don't let great WRs catch splinters.

I haven’t seen anything from our returning WRs that makes me think any of them are on the level of Waddle, Smitty, Ruggs, Jeudy, Jamo or even Metchie. Heck, they all look fairly slow, not real quick twitch, not a lot of shake and bake, a lot of drops. Just color me unimpressed. We need 1-2 STAR receivers for this offense to really shine. Not sure we have any unless some of the incoming guys are beasts. Slade is fine, Brooks is fine, Hall has potential but has a bad attitude half the time and doesn’t seem to have super soft hands. Yeah, just not impressed with that room heading into ‘22. We needed someone, anyone to step up Monday night and it was crickets from that group.

Not qualified to judge these guys, but feel like it has a lot of issues, Oline at times offer no protection, play calling sometimes fail (long developing routes when oline is not protecting) not having more deverse plays. Where are the RB screens? the Slants? then unable to run the ball in many games, puts too much pressure on the Passing game.
Not enough playing time for the 2nds and 3rds (too many games are too close, maybe? or there is not appetite to appear to run up the score when the backups REALLY need to "practice" in a game setting.) ..
SO many options, so many places to look for blame

Yeah, you're pretty hard to impress. You also knew that we'd get annihilated in the SECCG. You are a pretty negative poster.

The speed is coming in spades with the Freshman class.
Anderson,Bond,Prentice,Preston,Law,Henderson,Jamarion Miller, not to mention Gibbs.
Earle and Leary are plenty fast too.

Some of us were saying those previous classes were disappointing but we were told many of those players were amazing in practice....
Ha.
Anyways, this highlights the importance and getting high quality at WR. The idea that just getting anyone should be dead by now.

Who thought the 2020 class was some great class at WR? It was clearly not. Nobody thought there were guys in that class who were going to bust out early in their careers - both because of what we had on campus and because they were all long-term guys at best.
- Thaiu Jones-Bell (#144 overall, #25 WR)
- Javon Baker (#200 overall, #34 WR)
- Traeshon Holden (#235 overall, #42 WR)
As for the class of 2021, some people need to re-adjust the way they evaluate freshmen. I honestly have no clue how you look at any of the guys in the 2021 class that have been on the field and think "wow, these guys aren't going to give us much". THEY WERE FRESHMEN!
JaCorey Brooks basically had 3 games where he had to play most of the game (in 3 of the biggest games of the year, FYI)
- @ Auburn - 2 catches, 49 yards, the biggest touchdown catch of the season
- Cincinnati - 4 catches, 66 yards, the biggest offensive play of the game that basically sealed it
- Georgia (NCG) - 6 catches, 47 yards
I have no clue how somebody can look at what he did the end of the season in huge spots and not be excited.
