Without a doubt. I didn't blame him one bit for bolting to Kentucky.

Bull fricking shite......Curry walked around his entire time at Bama like he had a stick up his arse. He always seemed to be lecturing or talking down to the fan base. He's basically a good guy but he wasn't suited for Bama...at all......he was arrogant and condescending and that is the nicest thing I can say.

It's true that he wasn't dealt a fair deck but that was because the old guard didn't like him because he was a Bobby Dodd guy and they were still butthurt about the Bryant-Bobby Dodd beef. It would be like if we hired some Tennessee Phil Fulmer acolyte guy to replace Saban. It would never work.

That would have been bad enough, but Curry just didn't win enough or win the games that mattered. He was 3-0 against Paterno in his prime but was 0-3 against Pat Dye. Auburn was on a roll and he did nothing about it. Furthermore, he and the AD cucked out completely and agreed to move the Iron Bowl to Auburn. That decision cost us a shot at playing for a national title in 89 when we were undefeated and had a date with Miami in the Sugar Bowl for all the marbles and he still couldn't get it done against the Barn. All he had to do was get a win against Auburn and we were set for the national championship game and he blew it.

Then when we were supposed to be focused on Miami, it came out he was negotiating with Kentucky.Let me repeat: We are playing Miami in the Sugar Bowl with an outside shot to win it all as a one loss team (after he lost the Iron Bow for the 3rd straight time) and he was secretly negotiating with fricking Kentucky.

All that is bad enough, but he ran his suck continuously for years afterwards particularly during our dark years as an analyst on Jefferson Pilot and in the press. The jist of his take was that Bama was over and we best settle. He was extremely bitter towards Bama and would voice that opinion to anyone who would give him air time. I will give him credit that in the Saban era he has walked some of that back.

Curry is basically an honorable guy but his tenure with Bama was a bust and its by no means all on Bama or the fans.

I don't blame Bill for bolting for Ky but at the time was happy he did. His overall record when he came to Bama from Gt was 31-43-4. 0-7 vs Auburn. He goes to Ky & he never had a winning season in 7 yrs. The SEC really wasn't stacked with great coaches or teams in 90's so you think he sneak a winning season in there. I'll never forget Pat Dye in an interview urging Bama brass & fans to give him time he's a good coach. I was thinking smart move Pat your 10-0 against him. I'd pump him up too.

Do you think Harvey Updyke reflects poorly on us as fans or Alabama as an institution? I sure as hell don't. And I sure don't believe any treatment by a few knucklehead fans toward Curry does either.

Oh, sure, Curry may be morally a good guy. So is Jimmy Carter. I've often called Bill Curry the Jimmy Carter of college football...completely incompetent at his job, but never misses an opportunity to pontificate self righteously about everything that's wrong with college football.

Which leads me to the other point I often make about Bill Curry:

When you're so bad at your job that even an absolute prince of a man like CM Newton has to fire you, you're pretty bad.

Bama player told me on the team bus on their way to Jordan Hire in 89 for the epic 1st iron bowl there Curry had Whitney Houston songs playing such as the sweet ballad greatest love of all. Way to get the tough mindset against a very physical team. Could you imagine Stallings or Saban playing that soft stuff before a game?

UK has only 14 winning season over the last 50 yrs, and several of those were just a game over .500. That's like 1 win every 3-4 yrs. Maybe luck just worked against him in his shot.

I don't dislike Coach Curry. In fact, all I've heard/seen indicates he's a good coach and great man.

Your right much like Shula he's a great man. If 93-128-4 is good coaching, great coaching must be a 500 record. Also 0-12 lifetime vs Auburn.

One of my best friends growing up and early in my adult life is a first cousin of Gary Hollingsworth. Said that Gary always told him that the team had no respect for Curry at all.

moving the game to auburn didn't make us lose in '89 ... that's some 3rd grade level excuse crap right there ... not bashing curry, but auburn would've beaten us anywhere ... they were more physical ... and you really expect auburn to continue to play the iron bowl in b'ham when alabama played home games there? ... you throw the 'cuck' label at someone for moving the game to each university's home field? ... that's laughable ...
