It has more to do with greed; it isn't a political stance at all. At least as far as the Big 12 is concenred.

This isn't someone passing a law saying that everyone gets free healthcare; this is a douchebag in the midwest telling everyone that he hates that Alabama is bringing in more money to the SEC than his best team has ever gotten close to.

While I can see the similarities, it's a false equivalency. Was it "leftism" that led to the 85 scholarship limit? No, it wasn't - it was people complaining about certain schools having a leg up by working the rules in their favor. It's the same thing here - Saban gets the best recruits, and he wants his teams to sell out and win the championship to get more money.

I get it - we see politics everywhere. Sometimes, though - it's just a greedy bastard and has nothing to do with it.
