It's amazing how this team can turn their D all the way up.

One of the reasons you gotta tip your cap to Petty. He was a beast in all the minutiae of the game, especially in the second half.

Their screens weren't creating as much space because our defenders were battling through them.

Great team effort all round.

It should give us confidence to stop these high volume 3 teams... its like freakin hurry up no huddle in football.

We switched what we were doign with their ballscreens in the 2nd half. Im sure Pelphrey had something to do with that and it is why he is a great assistant.

I suppose all the coaches had something to do with it.

Nova is going to be a different animal beyond the arc. You brought up the barn but didn’t mention UK who gutter raped us from 3.

Villanova’s sharp shooter is 6’7” and as a team they lead the country in made threes (at a 40% rate) They are a rich man’s auburn. Our guards will have to defend better than they are capable of defensively to have a chance. They’ve got to play over their heads on both ends of the court. “Live by the three, die by the three” is a pretty common cliche in CBB, but It’s a high percentage shot for them. Them dying by the three would be an anomaly and not a regression to the mean

UK isn't a 3pt shooting team... they just had a game where they didn't make ONE three... it wasn't in the Game plan to stop the 3.. it was to pack it in deny the post and rebound.. they just ended up having an awesome day because of it. It was a smart strategy.. it was more important that we rebound and stop their inside game that to spread out challenging 3s.

They don't shoot the 3 anymore than Vtech or au or any other team that shoots a bunch of them.. Vtech hit 69% of their 3s in the 1st half.. was no different than any other team shooting a high percentage. I'm sure the game plan will be similar. This isn't an impossible task. We are longer and more athletic than most anyone they've played.

Yea they do. They make 2 more than auburn and 3 more than tech per game. And they do that shooting 40% as a team beyond the arc. We don’t have a player that shoots the high from 3.

No it isn’t impossible, but it is a daunting task considering that we can struggle offensively. Teams that can pour it in from 3 can get a game out of hand in a hurry when the other side is missing shots

Why does it have to a Pelph thing? Avery's probably biggest strength as a coach is setting his teams up to take away what you do best offensively.

It's just a very subtle dig at Avery.

Because Avery has mentioned he helps him with these things. Avery said they were baited into how far out they were playing last night, so he obviously didnt take it away in the first half.

Not at all; I think very highly of AJ, unlike many here. He doesnt have time to do everything. He has to have help and I am obviously just guessing, but as mentioned, Avery has said many times how Pelprey thinks the same way and helps with adjustments.
