He hasn’t announced. More than likely he’s gone, but don’t act like you’ve heard news

Is next season the season Ben Davis starts and becomes the player we thought he would be?

If he’s still here, I’d love for him to have a good year. I just don’t see it
He looked great getting that sack though

Yea somehow i thought he was a junior last year. Looking at something just posted he mustve been a senior.

I thought he was a redshirt junior this past season and would be a redshirt senior next year. He came in with Mack and Mack didn’t redshirt and left as a true Junior

Tim Watts reporting on Najee
quote:
As to the NFL feedback he got a "return to school grade", which means not a first or second rounder...
Najee talked to Saban and is now "thinking hard about what he wants to do".
confirmed with multiple people that Saban would welcome Najee back with open arms as would the rest of the coaching staff.

Yeah, Ben Davis was a redshirt junior in 2019 so that's his 4th year on scholarship in the program and he should be on track to graduate before next season. It doesnt appear there'll be enough room under the 85 limit for him (a scout teamer) to get a 5th year on scholarship for grad school. He could grad transfer, perhaps to UAB or USA.

A scout teamer...damn i thought he would be next in line smh

quote:Why? Davis couldn't beat out two true freshmen and one of them had never even played the ILB position before. I don't think he even made his way to playing on special teams. Apparently Golding coaching him for the past two years hasn't been helping him develop very much.

I mean he got in on a few plays. Cant say that about to many other guys. I also thought he woukd be a replacement for Jennings not in the middle.

People said that he was soft coming out of high school, but there has to be more to it than that. I had high hopes for him

I'm very interested to watch Saban navigate the waters of losing 12 players that contributed to meaningful playing time.
During the Miles era at LSU, the Juniors leaving gutted the program (the archaic offense with garbage QBs didn't help anything) which contributed to our decline of music City bowls and other meaningless games. Getting the seniors to stay, typically leads to the championship type seasons IMO with looking at Clemson and bama in the past few years. LSU had an abnormal amount of seniors return for this season which contributed to the season we are experiencing (and the burrow/Brady connection of lightning in a bottle doesn't hurt).
Cpt obvious statement coming: Saban is greatly better than miles but one noted point is his willingness to change/progress. Looking forward to 2021 it seems like bama could have another group of 12 leaving simply due to the talent on the roster and the upper classmen laden o-line. Watching what Saban is able to do with these turn overs of personnel in these next 2 to 3 years is going to be fun. I think we are going to be seeing some of his most difficult tasks to coach/navigate which would only further cement his spot as the greatest ever...and for the record, he doesn't need any more cement on that title as it stands right now. I find it hard to believe Saban won't be up to the challenge and will have an sec champ caliber/CFP caliber team every year.

Saban has been doing this for 20 years now in the SEC. People can stop wondering if he can navigate losing coaches and players every year. He can and he will.
