He’s gone six innings ONCE all year. To roll that guy in game one when you know you’re gonna need your bullpen in a regional setting doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

It's utterly perplexing. He's consistently been a 5 IP, 3-4 runs guy the entire season.

I’m pretty sure Vaughn is smart enough to know Hess is the hotter pitcher right now.
You don’t always start your ace in Game 1 of a regional.

We aren't a #1 seed. We're in a 50/50 game. Hess is gonna pitch against UCF in the losers bracket game before Moza gives up 15 to FSU on Sunday (at best).
