I too have long wanted Alabama to quit using the term Iron Bowl for that very reason. The name should die!

It always annoys me to hear an Auburn fan refer to it as the Iron Bowl. The reason it was called the Iron Bowl in the first place was because it was played in Birmingham. Auburn bitched and whined about the game being in Birmingham until it was changed. Sort of hypocritical then for them to hype it as the Iron Bowl. Moving the game out of Birmingham ended up for the best, what with Legion Field's decline. What also motivated their desire for a change was the old 50/50 split on tickets, which made the game unique. They hated not having an overwhelming fan advantage in their home year to help them.

Game needs to be played in Bham or quit calling it the Iron Bowl - makes no sense. Play in Protective now with 50/50 split crowd.

Not being sarcastic.. Because i have never played organized ball, but did AU run anything special?
Other than that wheel route like TD pass... It seemed that the motion confused Bama but isn't that AUs / Freeze staple. That and really good wr blocking?

They added new wrinkles to their blocking schemes which confused our LBs. They also added some pick plays for the WRs. Not sure what they did differently on defense, but their DBs were impressive at arriving a split second early and climbing over the back of the WRs to break up passes.

Aub coaches know they can go 6-6 or 7-5 every year almost, as long as they beat Bama regularly.

True to a certain extent, but Malzahn was 3-5 against Bama and averaging 8.5 wins per year with multiple divisional titles when they fired him. Some Bama fans, myself included, recognized that Auburn was making a mistake there but Auburn fans were absolutely convinced they deserved better. 0-3 against the Tide since and every season has had a lower winning percentage than Malzahn's worst.

Neutral site games suck, Birmingham sucks, and that stadium only sits 47k.

They were definitely doing something to pull our LBs and a safety over to the other side of the field. And their blocking was very sound. It seemed like every one of their big run plays there was just Key in the second level and when he didn't make the play there was green grass.

With less fans, the crowd noise becomes less of X factor and the better team and talent will prevail. Best of all no HFA for Auburn. Pro for Bama
