Yep.
This team's not going to go undefeated.
At all.
There are going to be multiple nights where we can't make anything.
And it'll happen against quality teams and that will equate to a big fat L.

First post tonight.
Nelson started slow but should be the hard hat winner. His outside shot is brick city. FT's early on too.
3 of last years stars were on the floor late. Thank goodness their FT shooting was as bad as ours otherwise the score would have been much closer. Clifford had some great moments. Not sure I like 22 shooting the outside shots. Was not close on any of them

Well shite. I knew I shouldn’t have bet on them to be the first team in 50 years to go undefeated.

I'm just saying we are going to find routine struggles as the season goes on.

A win is a win but I'm a just say this...
I don't think we will ever see Mark Sears this bad offensively again. He couldn't hit free throws or threes.
Same can be said for Latrell Wrightsell Jr...he's the best shooter on the team. He had 3 or 4 shots that literally rolled around the rim but just didn't go in.
I love the makeup of this team shoot they found a way to get the WIN despite the officiating, their shooting, and a handful of selfish plays!!

I just think Aiden Sherrell (#22) just needs to play. I love the God given ability he has. He can hit those outside shots consistently. I must remind you that he's just getting back and he didn't have the luxury of two exhibition games.
He just got to find his rhythm just like Latrell Wrightsell Jr, Grant Nelson, Chris Youngblood (whenever he comes back)!

Joka I’m a little worried we don’t have enough shooters until Youngblood gets back.
Only players really trust from 3 until Youngblood returns are Sears and Wrightsell. Last year we had Sears, Wrightsell, Estrada, Griffin, Walters, and Cosby who were all reliable.

That's kind a the reason why I didn't want Houston Mallette to redshirt. He's a knockdown shooter with consistent shot mechanics.
Umm...I think we got some capable shooters in Philon, Holloway (who has inconsistent shot mechanics), Stevenson (just like Holloway), and Grant Nelson (he just needs to shoot the ball soft & with arc)!
We can get by teams until Youngblood gets back because Philon, Holloway, & Nelson can do a plethora of other things on the court.
Like Nelson has the ability to post up and score on anybody because he's so skilled. Holloway has the ability to beat any defender. Philon sees the floor better than anybody on the team!
You can beat teams using their strengths alone!

Except they never played any meaningful minutes. Throwing them in with the others is pointless.

Walters was a regular in the rotation.

defense was at a 0.93.
much better start to this season defensively.

Estrada was a 31% 3 shooter at a high volume.. Cosby was a 34% 3 shooter. Walters was mid 40s until he got ice cold to close the season. Still finished a very good 39%.
When Sears misses 5 fts, you know it's just one of the fricked up kinda nights. It's basketball it happens.

the sluggishness was because of PatAdams. Every game he calls for us he calls a million fouls and the constant stoppage doesn't allow us to get in a flow. Im shocked Nate didn't get T'd up tonight. Thats usually an automatic when Pat Adams has our games
frick him
frick him

That's the anomaly for me with how we use Nelson. Skilled 6'11 matchup nightmare, zero designed plays with entry passes to him.
