1: Slant, Smitty breaks a tackle and cruises to the endzone

2: Crossing route, #6 breaks a tackle and tightropes the sideline for the score

3: Smoke screen, Devonta makes a man miss and accelerates the rest of the way

4: Post, The Golden Gazelle beats his man and catches a dime for a TD

5: Go route, Devonta Smith seals his record setting day but bursting past the DB and making a beautiful high point catch on another dime and gets both feet in to tie an SEC record

All five of his scores were different routes and they all showed off something different. Ability to break a tackle/make a man miss, ability to run after the catch, great hands, ability to abuse man defenders, etc

It wasn’t a bunch of slants or a bunch of screens. It was a full display of what Smith (and Tua) can do by perfectly executing on a variety of routes.

He must be good at paper rock scissors.

Not surprised at all. Smitty is a baller. Seems like scout.com had him ranked as their number one WR as well.

Any hope that the NFL scouts didn't notice?

About the time he caught that 4th TD of the first half my immediate thought was - it's sure going to be tough to replace Jeudy, Ruggs, AND Smith leaving early.

Smith has 1st round talent IMO, and if I'm a GM, I like what I've seen out of him since his freshman year at Bama. And he's done nothing but get better every year.

He has first round talent, but that doesn't mean he goes in the first round. If Julio and Cooper and Ridley had all been here together and all gone in the draft at the same time, would they have all been drafted in the first round? I don't know. What if that many teams aren't looking to take a WR in the first round?

Right, which is why I didn't say that he is a sure thing for the 1st round, only that I believe that his talent warrants a 1st round pick.
