I was born and raised in Georgia. I went to the State Univ of NY (Oswego) where they had a club hockey team. The team was mostly Canadian and the team competed successfully with very good minor college teams. The first match I watched in person featured a lot of hard hitting and I was sold. The school offered hockey as a PE elective so I signed up. I didn't understand they expected you to be able to skate well in order to take the class. I had never had on a pair of skates and those yankee boys took great pleasure in seeing how they could knock me to the ice. Fortunately, during the entire semester I had only one cut that actually required stitches. Ice is really hard on the head.

I grew up watching UAH in the 70’s and really learned to appreciate the sport.
