Expected. I don't particularly like it with the baggage but he does bring a lot to the table.

Maybe due to only 1-2 years Co-OC at Tulsa, 1 year OC at Texas, and no NFL experience and limited to air raid expertise, as compared to guys like Daboll & Godsey. So, seems like he's not as good of a fit with Saban's offensive philosopy.

Well, when will Kiesau likely be named as OC?

Looks like it's gonna be Daboll. I suspect Kiesau had better odds than Gilbert.

If you don't win, the odds don't matter.

Iirc, the violations weren't too major, Bama proposed his "punishment" to the NCAA, they OKd it, then Bama imposed it, soon parted ways, end of story.

Edit: Here's a little about it: LINK

What the hell is going on around here? Now, we are hiring folks for jobs that aren't even available.

Prior reporting was that Pannunzio interviewed for TE coach, which seemed a bit odd since he's been in an administrative role for years.

I think Pannunzio's role would be different than Dickens, who is mainly a football PR guy. However, we have Ed Marynowitz too, who's a player personnel / scouting guy and looks years younger than Pannunzio. Like Pannunzio, he was with the Eagles.

This is from Pannunzio's wiki bio:
quote:

Joseph Thomas Pannunzio (born July 4, 1959) is an American football executive and former player [QB] and coach. He served as head football coach at Murray State University (MSU) from 2000 to 2005, compiling an overall record of 30–37.[1] Pannunzio was the director of football operations at the University of Alabama from 2011 to 2014. He is currently a Director of Personnel Operations with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL).

LINK ]5 things you should know about Alabama offensive coordinator target
Sec Country | Feb 13, 2017
quote:

New England Patriots assistant coach Brian Daboll is expected to interview with Alabama football coach Nick Saban for the vacant offensive coordinator position, according to FoxSports’ Bruce Feldman.

Saban is searching for someone to replace Steve Sarkisian, who left for the same position with the Atlanta Falcons.

Daboll coaches tight ends for the Patriots under Bill Belichick.

Here are five things you should know about Daboll:

1. He’s worked with Nick Saban

It’s been a while, but Daboll worked as a graduate assistant under Saban at Michigan State (1998-99). Saban has a long history of hiring guys who have worked for him at some point.

It also helps that Daboll worked under Bill Belichick, whom Saban respects and admires as much as anyone in the coaching profession.

2. He was born in Canada

Daboll, 41, was born in Welland, Ontario, but attended high school in New York. Daboll was a football letterman in high school, and became a two-year starter in college at the University of Rochester.

3. He spent time as a defensive assistant

After working as a graduate assistant at Michigan State, Daboll had a brief stint as a defensive assistant with the Patriots in 2000. That didn’t last long, however, as Daboll moved to the offensive side of the ball in 2002. He’s coached offense in some capacity each season since.

4. Three stops as an offensive coordinator

Daboll got his first big break as the Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator in 2009. He spent the 2009-10 seasons as the Browns signal caller on offense.

From there, Daboll had one-year stops with the Miami Dolphins (2011) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2012). After spending one year as a coaching assistant (2013) with the Patriots, he was bumped up to tight ends coach in 2014.

5. Was expected to be in line for Patriots offensive coordinator job

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Daboll was being groomed to replace offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels whenever he decided to chase another head coaching opportunity.

McDaniels will be with the team during the 2017 season, but his future beyond that is uncertain.

I completely forgot about losing Napier so we have 3 openings if you include the new 10th assistant spot.
