Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide carded an 11-over par 299 on the par-72, 6,327-yard University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., and will enter the second round tied for fifth place.

She continued to compete consistently throughout the rest of the round, carding four birdies and just two bogeys to finish at 2-under-par 70. The fifth year is one of just five individuals who finished the day under par.

Mack leads an individual field that includes seven of the nation's top 15 individual players, including No. 2 Amari Avery of USC, No. 3 Rachel Kuehn of Wake Forest, No. 7 Sara Kouskova of Texas, No. 9 Hannah Darling of South Carolina, No. 13 Benedetta Moresco of Alabama and No. 15 Carol Lopez-Chacarra of Wake Forest.

The Alabama women’s golf team improved to fourth place after second round

The University of Alabama women's golf team improved one spot on the leaderboard at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic to find fourth place after matching rounds of 11-over-par 299 through the first 36 holes at the University of Georgia Golf Course (par 72, 6,317 yards) in Athens, Ga. Benedetta Moresco, University of Alabama women's golfer, burst on to the scene this weekend, finishing tied for fourth place at the Augusta National Women's Amateur at Augusta National Golf Club Saturday. The sophomore recorded a 1-under-par 71 in the final round, one of just four players to go under par on the prized track, turning in a 1-over-par 217 tournament total.

Moresco put together rounds of 70, 76 and 71 throughout the third-annual event. The Italian, who led the tournament after the first round and had a share of sixth place after the second round, was one of just nine players to record at least one round under par and one of just three players to record at least two rounds under par.

Despite a pair of bogeys on holes Nos. 4 and 5 to begin the final round at Augusta National Saturday, she responded with 10 pars and a trio of birdies. That included back-to-back birdies on holes Nos. 15 and 16 to go under par and eclipse the top five down the stretch.

Moresco trailed the Augusta National Women's Amateur Champion Anna Davis by just two strokes (1-under-par 215), while she lagged second place finishers Ingrid Lindblad and Latanna Stone by just one stroke (even-par 216). Moresco tied Amari Avery and Beatrice Wallen for fourth place (1-over-par 217).

The 20-year-old will return to the Capstone to prepare for the 2022 Southeastern Conference Tournament, April 13-17 at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Hoover, Ala., with her Crimson Tide teammates.

Alabama Men’s Golf Cards 6-Under Par Final Round to Result in a Sixth-Place Finish at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational

The Crimson Tide surged five spots up the leaderboard on Sunday’s final day of play

The Alabama men's golf team shot a final round of 6-under par 282 Sunday to vault five spots up the leaderboard and finish in sixth overall at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational. The Tide carded the second-lowest team total of the day and closed the two-day, 54-hole event with a 2-over 866 (297-287-282).

As a result of the finish, UA's overall head-to-head record improved to 46-45-1 on the season which moved the Tide over the .500 mark and eligible for postseason play. Alabama will have to finish in the top half of the SEC Championships (April 20-24) to be considered for NCAA Regional play.

Junior Canon Claycomb continued his hot spring season, leading the Crimson Tide for the third time in four events by recording a 6-under par 210 (73-70-67) which placed him 11th overall. He posted three birdies and an eagle in Sunday's final round on the par-72, 7,086-yard Forest Hills Country Club track, resulting in a 5-under par 67 – his team-leading ninth round in the 60s this season.

Sophomore JP Cave fired a final-round 69 to jump 13 spots up the leaderboard into 16th place. It was his second top-20 finish of the season and the sixth time he had a round in the 60s. The sophomore carded five birdies throughout Sunday's final round, finishing the tournament at 2-under par 214 (74-71-69).

Coach Seawell Comments
"I am really proud of our guys. They responded on a day that we desperately needed to have a good round. When our team is focused, we're good. We have to learn how to do that every day, every hole, every shot. We have proved we can play with the best teams in the country, but we just need to be more consistent. We needed that performance because it put us over the .500 mark going into SECs which was big. Now we have to take care of business there so we can get into NCAA Regionals, which we are hosting. I am proud of how responded. Hopefully this is something we can build off of as we go after a championship in a few weeks."

Crimson Tide Women’s Golf Concludes First Round at SEC Championship

Alabama will tee off in Thursday’s second round at 8:20 a.m. CT

From Head Coach Mic Potter
"Obviously, we had a rough day today. The good news is we're only three shots back of the top eight after playing that way. I was really proud of Emilie and Isabella for hanging in there the way they did. They kept us in the tournament. Now we have to get our top three, our two seniors and one of the best amateurs in the world, to get going and play the way they're capable of playing. There are 36 holes left, that's a lot of golf left, and we are very capable. We have to play our game and get rid of the fear and get rid of the tension."

Results
T11 Emilie Øverås 1-over-par 73
T33 Isabella van der Biest 3-over-par 75
T49 Angelica Moresco 5-over-par 77
T49 Benedetta Moresco 5-over-par 77
