LINK ]Alabama practice report: Two safeties not spotted (al.com)

Both safeties Xavier McKinney (15) and Daniel Wright (3) were not spotted Friday during the media viewing period at Alabama's football practice Friday.
quote:

Alabama returned to the field Friday for a light practice preceding the first scrimmage of its fall camp on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide was in shorts and shells with the temperature 89 degrees.

Here are some observations from the limited access period provided to the media:

-- Safeties Xavier McKinney and Daniel Wright were not spotted during the early periods.

-- With McKinney and Wright not there, the defensive backs still worked on covering pick plays.

-- Freshman Patrick Surtain II was positioned at Star during one alignment.

-- Chris Allen and Ben Davis were with grouped the outside linebackers. Jamey Mosley was not seen during the viewing period.

-- The tight ends operating off the line and in the slot during a passing drill.

-- Scouts from the Cowboys and Colts were seen on the sideline.

LINK ] Practice report: Ale Kaho joins Crimson Tide (Videos of ILB Drills)

quote:

The newest member of the University of Alabama football team participated in his first practice as Crimson Tide held its first scrimmage of the fall Saturday afternoon.

Linebacker Ale Kaho, who got his release from Washington earlier this week, wore No. 10 while Alabama went through individual drills but did not sport pads. Since he never enrolled at UW he was eligible to join the team immediately.

Conditions were ideal for fall camp, 86 degrees and partly-cloudy skies with a heat index of 93.

Two players who had been absent Friday were watching out of their pads and in a black no-contact jersey: senior linebacker Jamey Mosley and sophomore safety Daniel Wright. Mosley had his left arm in a sling, while Wright had his right arm in one.

Sophomore safety Xavier McKinney was back in his usual spot after being excused for practice on Friday.

On the offensive line there was no movement with the first-team, but sophomore Scott Lashley lined up at left tackle with the second-team along, from left to right, Deonte Brown, Chris Owens, Joshua Casher and Matt Womack.

Freshman defensive lineman Stephon Wynn Jr. (ligament strain) did not dress for the scrimmage.

Sophomores Chris Allen and Ben Davis both warmed up with the outside linebackers after taking some reps with the inside linebackers this week.

No one on the field wore a black no-contact jersey during the observation periods.

Nick Saban will address reporters after the scrimmage.
