You can certainly fire whomever's call it was to not close the schools, since the night before, the gov. had declared a state of emergency. That's my biggest gripe. There was no reason to make the kids come to school since everyone knows were are just not equipped to deal with this.

I think the superintendent makes the final call. Probably will pass the buck and fire one of his underlings.

I can't decide if this is good news or bad.

From Mississippi State's 247 site:
quote:
O.J. Smith of Airline (La.) HS - Before Monday afternoon, the last time Smith was on MSU's radar was last spring. After naming MSU his leader for several weeks, Smith surprised a few and committed to Alabama.
But now the Bulldogs are back in the mix and in a major way. Smith is officially visiting the Bulldogs and hosted an in-home visit with MSU head coach Dan Mullen and assistant John Hevesy earlier this week.
One factor in Smith's final decision could be the decision 247Sports five-star prospect Matt Elam on Thursday. Should Elam pick Alabama then MSU's chances of landing Smith grow even better. And those chances are already pretty favorable right now.

I'm only wondering why the situation in Birmingham was that bad when just about the entire rest of the state shut down before noon or didn't open at all. Schools should have been closed. No justifiable reason for the schools and businesses not closing early to give people time to get home. The entire region knew this was coming before the weekend. People should probably lose their jobs over this.
Every one of the weather people had Birmingham temp being in the 20 range and not could enough to freeze over and snow the way it did. NWS were the only ones predicting it would hit Birmingham and no one else listened locally they all said it wouldn't hit our area and would hit more toward the north and we would be lucky to see an inch of snow and no accumulation and 3-4 inches hit with temps in single digits and allschools workplaces etc all go of local news to make a decision to close. I agree every single weather person in the city should be fired this morning.

I was about to say that Cade Foster's inaccuracy didn't cause someone to lose their life, but then I realized that isn't right either.

Humphrey might have just committed to Bama. Powers is confirming.

The latest news we have today is that we are hitting 15-18 in Baldwin county and again tonight and the temps today will now not get above freezing as originally thought so our roads will stay frozen and schools closed at least through tomorrow. We should be good by tomorrow afternoon.
