Being at a JuCo should help, he can grow and play against better competition at the same time.
You probably could have started him off at OT, TE, or DL and got a starter out of him at any of those position. I said it was bad also because Fanning was the same way, never progressed.
Just depends on how they roll with it.

I played JUCO ball in Mississippi and Butler is one of the few JUCO's that can get kids in and out in a year. My DB coach in JUCO played at Butler before he went to Ole Miss. Ole Miss used to send a lot of kids there in early 2000's.
