We are still Alabama and Kentucky is still kentucky. How could we not guilt Chad Jackson but they can guilt Matt Elam?
You're making the assumption that he wants to go to Kentucky because someone has "guilted" him into it. His own Mother likes Alabama. Who is doing this guilting? You've said that Kentucky fans don't care about football so it must not be the fans right? It's well known at least one of his HS coaches is a Bama fan/supporter, so we know it's not them.

So now we get to have arguments on the Bama board with other posters. Go Elam.

Someone needs to take off the blue colored glasses a minute. Even Monty says guilt is a factor. If it wasn't wouldn't recruits choose Kentucky over Alabama or say Florida on the regular? I mean if Kentucky was a great football program and all.

So a kid has to be "guilted" to stay home if the program isn't Alabama?
I honestly want to know who is doing this "guilting" in regards to Elam?

Anyone telling him has to stay home for "the state"?
And no everyone who chooses someone else isn't guilted, Roc Thomas choosing Auburn isn't guilt. But if Elam ultimately chooses Kentucky and it has anything with doing with "representing his state" then yeah that came straight from the recruiters on your staff selling guilt.

Of course he did. Considering CJ Johnson was hurt all year he was our best d lineman. He certainly made us better than if he would not have been there.

And you don't think an Alabama coach has ever told an Alabama recruit to come to Alabama over another major program because it's the school in his home state? Programs, large and small, use that angle all the time. It's not "guilting" anyone. It's a recruiting pitch.

But when Alabama was down blue chip kids had no problems going to Auburn, Tennessee, or Florida. Kentucky is always down.

So Alabama still didn't try to actively recruit those guys to come to Alabama?
Kentucky has also never had a coaching staff work this hard in recruiting or had an administration backing them with facility upgrades/football improvements either.

Of course they did, hence my point why the guilt message/playing for the underdog program is hooking more kids than playing for the juggernaut compared to say a generation ago. It has been a thorn in our side for several cycles.

But why is 100% guilting? A kid can't have pride in potentially bringing his home state program, that he grew up watching, up to a level of respectability? That never comes into play?
As far as a generation ago, Kentucky was on probation a generation ago. I'd never fault a kid for not playing for a program, even in state, when it's not even able to fully fill a roster.
The reality is sometimes staying in state and playing for the home team has more value to a kid then playing for a "juggernaut". I don't know why this is such a hard concept for you to grasp.

I certainly love it when fans of other teams argue with fans of our team on the Bama board and then go to the SECrecruiting board and talk about them.
Must be some SEC awards to work on.

I wouldn't have any problem saying it here, but out of respect for Flesh and Co. I'll keep it to another board.

Then why except on rare occasions have Kentucky's (the state) best high school players played elsewhere?
It is like you woke up yesterday and forgot your entire role/history.

Then move this discussion to the other board. We don't care to see it.

I thought I explained that pretty succinctly earlier. But again, Brooks inherited a team on probation with scholarship restrictions. Petrino then ended up at UofL and locked down the Louisville area for most of his tenure there. Joker's best recruiter on staff was Tee Martin and he left for Southern Cal.

Not at all. I'm well aware. I'm also well aware that Stoops and Co. has some advantages right now that those previous coaches didn't. Stoops has had more flexibility then any coaching staff in my lifetime in hiring a competent recruiting staff (i.e. Vince Marrow). But apparently you woke up and forgot that non-traditional programs can make positive changes to their program from time to time.

History doesn't begin and end with Richt Brooks and Mark Stoops.

Sorry that you don't want to read a discussion about a recruit we have in common. I'll respect that though.
