I'll contribute to the Chris Williams hype. Back in the summer, some poster on TideSports said that Bama's staff feels that he is a 3 year player.

It'd be ironic if we finally came around to liking him only to lose him.

The only way I think we lose him is if he doesn't make the grades. He did say this back in October though:

quote:

Williams added that he and Smart also discussed where he stands academically.

“I’m taking an online Spanish class. I can use that and it should be perfect for the NCAA requirements. I talked to Coach Smart about that and everything should be alright when I finish that.”

Hopefully he gets everything in order.

Idk it sounded like KBess had some negative things to tell him about Bama. That's gonna be tough to combat.

From what I can tell Williams is a lifelong Bama fan who was responsible for Bessent committing to us in the first place. He may not make it in this class, but I highly doubt he ends up at Auburn.

You just never know with close friends. Bessent sounds pretty adamant in his distaste for Bama and that may rub off. Friendship is a powerful thing with 17-18 year olds. It's why I feel more comfortable with Hampton's recruitment than I was with any other MS battle. We have the trump card, Hootie. Hampton even said that Hootie committing to Bama made his decision even harder.

So now that you are on the Chris a Williams train, who does he remind you of?

Another moment brought to you by the 2014 Alabama Recruiting Class. I wonder if he was the one that Niebuhr was talking about when he said an SECw school could get a commitment tonight.

Honestly? He kind of reminds me of Eddie Jackson.

Tall, long, skinny kid with excellent ball skills. Great with the ball in their hands. Good instincts. Jackson is faster, but Williams is a hell of an athlete too.

I think if he puts on a healthy 15-20 pounds he could be very, very good. He certainly has the frame for it.
