Not sure how I'd feel if we hired Gottfried. I wouldn't have a huge problem with it but I know it would probably receive a lot of negativity bc some of our fans can't stand him.

Doubt Gottfried would want to be an assistant here.

Yeah, that's not really a career move you see often

I really think Mo Williams would consider it if offered tho..

Was Simon the primary recruiter of Braxton?

We offered DJ Stewart according to his Twitter

I'd be all for Mo Williams. It's a quick transition as a coach but I trust his knowledge and his name would make an impact in recruiting.

It was Simon. He had the longstanding connection with Key.

This whole thing scares me NCAA wise. Simon hasn't been here as far back as the banquet. Why did it take so long to let him go after that?

What about Mark Gottfried?
I can't imagine Gottfried and Mrs Gottfried coming back to Tuscaloosa as an assistant.

The Tidesports staff (Cecil and Suttles) have known he was fired for sometime. They just didn't release it publicly. I guess someone finally told BOL and they wanted to run it first to get credit.

The timing of it just seems weird, and I don't get why Avery wouldn't have a statement about it.

I'd just like to see Mark be Avery's bitch tbh.

LOL, Gottfried coming back would be surreal.

No reason to rush this hire. Let's get the right guy in here and make it work.
I still want to know why Simon was let go? Left? I dunno.
Relieved of his duties says two things to me: either he did something wrong and was let go, either broke NCAA rules or was messing around on campus with the ladies or some other team violation.
OR he was relieved of his duties to deal with a personal problem. His health, or an addiction, or familial problems.
There's a lot of gray area there, I just wish someone somewhere would clarify it some with a statement. I tend to think it's something personal or something WOULD have been stated already. If it's personal, maybe Simon doesn't want his dirty laundry on public display. But just say he left for personal reasons and let that be the end of it. But if it were NCAA related, I feel like the University would have made a statement, said they are investigating, self-reporting, yada, yada. Hush, hush will get you nowhere.

We have a lot of young bigs that aren't very skilled on the offensive end.
