I’m curious to read the board’s opinion. Does anybody really think Herbert is a serious threat to leave after next season? I don’t even think he’ll start and it’s not like we are going to be very good team.

He'll yea. He will get picked before Petty imo. It's not his stats it's his potential. His length on defense is what they are after. His offense will develop.

I think he'll be a three year player at least.
I know scouts like his potential, but his shooting and ball handling would have to improve a pretty good bit to be a first round guy.
As far as being a starter, I don't know about that. Regardless, I think he'll probably be one of our 3 best players.

No. I don't think he's ready, and I think he's smart enough to know that.

This is pretty much my opinion. If his shot improves to 35+% on decent volume, I think he has a great chance. 3&D is the fast track to the NBA and he already has half of that in spades. I'm just not sold on the 3-ball improving enough.
FWIW most draft experts has him as our best NBA prospect and a few of the most prominent guys project him in the 1st rd.

Sixers took Zhaire Smith in the first round. Don't underestimate a defensive stopper who can handle the ball and shoot.

I will say that the Herb Jones hype is pretty reminiscent of the Anunoby hype and many people had him pegged as a lottery pick (and he should've been) before the draft coming off of an injury and without showing much of an offensive game at Indiana.

Watford also mentioned in that article yesterday that he and James Wiseman have talked about potentially playing together at Memphis. We better hope and pray Wiseman picks Kentucky.
If Wiseman picks Kentucky, I think we land Watford. If he picks Memphis, I think Watford goes to play with him

I agree that he’s at least a three year guy. I like his ball handling better than his shooting and believe his turnovers from last year had more to do with poor decisions and at times carelessness. Might seem like splitting hairs but in my opinion his deficiencies should be easier to correct than an inability to dribble or handle a pass.
Does it not concern anyone else that our perceived best NBA prospect was giving up minutes to Key last year and right now is on the outside looking on being a starter?

Had Herb not fouled like a baby Giddens, I think he would've played a lot more minutes. In my opinion, him not being on the court was due to that over Johnson liking someone else's game more.

Fair comparison except for the weight difference right? Wasn’t Anunoby much more developed physically? Seems like he also had a reputation as being a plus athlete too.

You got that right. Forgot how foul prone he was. And some silly reach in stuff too.

He was more physically developed for sure, but I think Herb is the better overall athlete.

I also don't think it was Key he would've been replacing. Key was almost exclusively a 4 and Herb's defensive talent almost felt wasted there the few times he played the 4 because of his size.
Gongora, are you assuming he's on the outside looking in or is it what you're hearing? If we were betting on the most commonly played together lineup, I'd put my money on Dazon, Petty, Herb, Mack and Hall.

There was a stat I saw one time that said something like any time Herbert scores 5 or more points were like 15-2 or something like that. So he definitely can be a great player for us

Guessing he got a new offer/s from someone bigger than us?

Maybe that's why we keep recruiting wings
