I expect us to be squarely on the bubble again.

I am wait and see as we lost our best player from last years team. Give me your starting 5 and first 2 off the bench? If you mention a new comer give me a little bio on them. Yes I am lazy and would have a hard time at my age finding the info quickly

I guess it depends on your definition of bubble, but I expect to be a 7/8 seed kind of team again with plenty of potential to be a top 5 seed if players progress well. I don't really consider a 7/8 seed a bubble team since there's no chance that team misses the tournament. I do expect us to lock up a bid before the SEC tournament though.

Dazon Ingram
John Petty
Tevin Mack (Texas transfer who led them in scoring two years ago)
Riley Norris
Donta Hall
-----------
Herbert Jones
Those 6 will probably get the majority of minutes. After them, Jared Butler (4* freshman point guard), Reese, and one of Giddens, Smith, or Fleming (3* very skilled but unathletic big) will get significant minutes as well. I guess AJ Jr will still be getting time too.

Which is fine with me. I'll take back to back tournament years. But I'm hopeful for the next step the following year.

PG - Ingram
SG - Petty
SF - Jones
PF - Mack
C - Hall
6 - Norris
7 - Reese
8 - Butler
9 - AJ Jr
10 - Fleming
11 - Giddens
12 - Smith
13 - Wood
A lot of this changes if Butler can't play and/or Kira Lewis is added into the mix.
New guys:
Mack: The best of the new guys, at least for next year. He and Petty are solid bets to lead the team in scoring with their shooting and solid athleticism. If someone not named Mack or Petty lead the team in scoring, I'll be surprised (Hall is a darkhorse though).
Butler: A true PG and is supposed to be a very good shooter. His ball-handling isn't bad, but it's definitely not his strength (which is a little worrisome since it's probably the best on the team).
Fleming: A beast of a low post player on the offensive end. Impeccable footwork and is supposed to have good hands. He is a very big dude (who has trimmed down a lot since we started recruiting him), with a huge base (butt) so I think he'll contribute this year. Many people, including me, thought he might be a liability on the defensive end, but when he committed and was asked what the staff liked most about him he mentioned they talk about his ability to switch on to guards defensively the most. I thought that was very interesting.
Wood: A SG whose only noteworthy strength I have seen and heard about is his athleticism. I hope I'm wrong, but I fully expect him to be a lot like Brandon Austin.

I think it comes down to 3 things next season:
1. Can Mack be a top scorer for us like he was at Texas?
2. Can Petty become a more consistent shooter (especially on the road)?
3. Can Herbert get better offensively?
If all these things happen, we’re a lock for the NCAA tourney. But they also very well may not happen. It’s just a wait and see game with that.
I think this coming season we just need to make the tourney (and hopefully win a game), and then expect to take that next step in 2019

Not sure how big. All I’m saying is that he reported bigger than some expected.

But do you mean big as in fat or muscle?

I expect us to be 20-11 or 21-10 and about a 7 or 8 seed. We are gonna be better than people expect, we will be one of the better defenses in the country.

Both maybe. I don’t know.
On the flip side I also heard that Reese has dropped a lot of weight. We’ll all see before too long if any of it is true.

He was still a very big kid his senior year. He just shed a lot of the bad weight and replaced it with muscle. I remember his first visit to Tuscaloosa with Avery he had him a belly and some bitties.

Ok thanks. Even if he is a little heavy, Coach Lou will fix that
