I think that's been Alabama's prototype forward for the last 40 years
I wouldn't say the forwards Grant recruited really fit that bill. Most of Grant's forwards were either going to work in the post or spot up from outside.
Norris, Cooper, and Hale are very different sorts of players than Herbert, Smith, and now supposedly Gary.
The two guards Randolph and Lacey are pretty much identical physically to Petty and Wood.

Agree - really it was the old prototype of the Wimp days. Long, athletic wings who ran and dunked and played defense.

Grant wanted the most unathletic wings possible. One comes to mind is the Hunt kid that went to GA Tech...

I wouldn't say that's his type of player. Despite the stats, Herb's shooting was viewed as a positive as a recruit by most recruiting analysts at the time of his commitment. Smith hit 53/128 (41%) of his threes his junior year and shot 36% the year prior. Gary is the first guy we landed (assuming, I know) on the wing that's been tagged with the "can't shoot" label.
I do think he prefers athleticism slightly over shooting, but it's not like the guys he recruits are typically bad shooters.

Yeah, like I said before I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Young is going to be a huge bust. He isn't and never will be the kind of shooter Curry is, but he isn't strong enough to drive to the basket and finish. I think he will have to really focus on being a throwback facilitator type PG who doesn't score much but does a lot to help his teammates score. I don't see that happening though. That kid takes heat check shots before he even makes one in the first place.

I don't think Trae Young will be a huge hit either, but all your criticisms were made about Curry as well
When Steph Curry was leaving Davidson, his 3FG shooting his JR year at PG was not significantly better than Trae Young
Neither was Steph Curry and it showed early in his career. He broke 50% 2FG only once in his first 4 years
It's well reported on how Curry worked his arse off to build strength to survive + help his 2FG shooting LINK
Curry started his career in that role more or less until he built up strength to finish inside + improved his volume 3FG shooting
Got to get the practice reps in if you want them to start falling

We picked up 3 crystal balls today for Juwan Gary. One of them was from Jerry Meyer. We lead the crystal ball picks now.
Another article today said that Gary will set his commitment date by Wednesday. Looking like somewhere between Thursday and Sunday he’ll announce

Still looking good for Kira as of now. I’ve always heard that if Kentucky offers, that could/would change things. But they haven’t offered. Still hearing Kira could be part of the 2018 class

If we get Kira for this years team I will be more excited for this year than I was for last year.

Same. Imagine Kira, Mack, and Petty all on the same team

Just being more experienced gets me excited.

With Kira would we have to wait until Mid- December like Auburn did with Wiley??
