No one is defending him and acting like he was some good coach. He was mediocre to average. We achieved mediocre results. If you can't see how you saying he was terrible and nearly destroyed the program is moronic then no one is going to be able to help you.

Compared to who he was average? Hell, he didn't even come close to accomplishing Hobbs'result and he wasn't even close to CM, Wimp, or Gottfried. Compared to past coaches, he wasn't average or mediocre, he was well below par. Calling him "average," is degrading ot our program.

Auburn is historically one of the three worst programs in the SEC. Alabama is historically one of the three best. Grant was about as below par at Alabama as Barbee was at Auburn.

This is factually not true. Barbee caused twice as big a drop in win% for AU despite having coached roughly half the games. Also, Barbee's 'toughest' SOS seasons was worse than Grant's worst

Barbee is about 15% lower in Win% than AU's historical avg. Grant is 3% lower in Win% than Bama's historical avg.

There is no version of reality where Grant did worse at Bama than Barbee did at AU

Anyone want to talk about Rivny?

Considering he's already local and that he's an international guy that can witness one of our players being selected in the top 10 of the NBA draft in a few months, we have to feel good about landing him.

Could it be that y’all are both right? Grant was the worst Bama coach in 50 years BECAUSE he never had anything better than a mediocre finish.

It's possible about Grant being terrible, but not about Grant being in the conversation with Barbee terribleness

There is a real shot that Barbee couldn't make the NCAAT if you gave him a NBA team. That sounds ridiculous, but it only shows how ridiculously bad Barbee actually was

Here’s what I know about Rivny. Coaches say he’s got a great attitude and is a hard worker. (Reading between the lines here but they are sick of dealing with so many egos and me-first players.) Rivny might have been a little awe struck during visit. Not sure if it was due to being his first major college visit or if he was genuinely that impressed. I like that we are on him early, but I’m not so sure our depth chart is especially favorable.

There's not a lot to base an opinion on, but I really like what I see. He can score on all three levels, handles the ball well, great leaper. The only weakness I can see is that he isn't strong, but a lot of teams aren't putting bangers out there at the four spot anymore.

I've been longing for a skilled European and a skilled stretch four for so long. Dmitry seems like he could be both. I really hope we sign him.

Rivny is following @AlabamaMBB, Avery, Pettway, and Alex Fain (who is our recruiting and scouting coordinator) all on twitter. Only other big name school he’s following is Texas Tech. Then a few smaller schools. He posted a pic of him with Avery and Avery was having to reach up a little to put his arm around him when taking a pic

Bryant and I trained you on Twitter stalking well, I see. Careful though, it's a slippery slope. You may learn things about him that you didn't want to know, like Devonta Pollard's seriously crazy porn addiction.

I could see him playing the 3 as well, though he'd make more sense as a four defensively. I think my favorite thing that I've seen from him is his passing and his ability to lead a fastbreak if he has to. His outlet passes were one of the most impressive things I saw in his highlight video, which is an extremely underrated skill.

I wouldn't say he was worse than Hobbs.

100% true. He wasn't bashful about it either, he'd retweet porn accounts and reply to videos NSFW. When he got on campus he created a new Twitter account which was probably forced by the staff because of it. I'd say about 1 out of every 5 accounts he was following on his original account were porn accounts

Dmitry Rivny talked to BOL about his recruitment. Said he had a great time at Alabama and he said Alabama is a great option for him. He said Alabama told him they want him to come win championships with us. He’s pretty excited about Alabama but not just basketball, he’s excited about the school itself too. He said everything was really good. He’ll come back and visit again for an official visit May 4th. Alabama, Texas Tech, and San Francisco are his 3 offers. He’s also talking to Auburn and Tulane. The only official visit he’s taken so far is San Francisco.

Bottom line: Sounds like we’re in great shape.

Twitter stalking update: He’s also following Coach Lou DeNeen now
