St Mary's fans are saying it may be too schedule better game. None of those schools are likely to be impressive wins
Diamondhead isn't that great of a tournament in general. I mean, they invited AU under Tony Barbee some years ago

You don't think TCU is going to be good next year?

Yeah I’m so certain St Mary’s is gonna schedule a better team than what was listed

I like Jamie Dixon, he's done great for TCU, but they were terrible for a NCAAT team and losing two key SRs from this last team
They were overrated AF just by virtue of being in the Big12.

I'm with ya, just saying what I saw

Ya but they still got some solid players returning. I suspect at the end of next season they will fall under a good win. Probably somewhere in my top 25-30 going into next year.

If they were in the SEC they'd be a bubble team at best and likely NIT team.
They get the benefit of beating some overrated "ok" Big12 teams and with a win over a Kansas/WVU punches their tickets though

Jon Rothstein has us ranked #27 in his latest rankings

We're gonna be solid next year. Hopefully if Key does come back he will be more aggresive like he was his Freshman year.

I agree, we re flying under the radar while LSU and moo State are gonna have pressure of expectations...And state has already suffered some transfers and Holman is testing the draft. We should be very solid once we figure out the pg situation.

Transfers of their weakest players from last year who both were overtaken by multiple players on the depth chart

So is Q + Lamar Peters but all 3 will end up returning.
With the new CBA rules, it is confusing why any player wouldn't "test the waters" and declare. There is no downside to doing it

Because you have to pay your way to all the workouts, which is pretty expensive, miss school, and be away from your team for a couple of months. If there's no chance you're gonna get drafted, it's stupid to declare and waste your (and other people's) time.

Love these way too early top 25s because it creates discussion but it is hard to take any seriously till the end of May.

It's the off season for college basketball. Declaring if you have the money and the potential to eventually get drafted is smart IMO and definitely not dumb. You can learn what you need to improve on and they'll probably be getting in more work and useful feedback than they would get otherwise. I'd be more than okay with Hall, Petty, and Herb declaring if I didn't have to sweat about them coming back

That doesn't mean the team isn't working out together. Also, these guys need to be focused on school. They're getting a free education after all.

Working out with NBA scouts and coaches >>>> getting shots up with a teammate during the beginning of the off-season. There is more than enough time to connect and build chemistry with teammates afterwards.
If they have the potential to be drafted they should most definitely focus on basketball especially considering schools are very cooperative with student athletes academically. Coming from a guy that made all A's in college, I'd trade my degree for a solid chance of being an instantaneous Millionaire, much less trade getting a letter grade lower in a few of my classes in one semester.

IDK about you Bird, but I couldn't afford missing a month of school and blowing thousands of dollars traveling the country when I was in college. Any of the players you mentioned would be dumb to even be thinking about the NBA right now as none of them are near ready. Maybe they'll get there, but they're all a long way away.

Im surprised hall hasn't at least decides to work out and get feedback, but I'd imagine he, herb, and petty are realistic with where they stand right now.

Were you a good college basketball player that is given an incredible amount of slack with collegiate academic? I know I wasn't...
As for the money, I know I didn't have the money to blow in college, but these kids aren't paying for tuition/food/rent/bills either. What they would be potentially spending in declaring would be a fraction of what I was paying for (including tuition/food/rent/bills) in one semester of college.
These kids aren't you and I, they have the potential to make millions of dollars in their early 20s. Saying it's dumb for them to pursue every advantageous route to that money isn't sage advice. Sure, make sure you have a good backup plan and study hard, but don't give up on your somewhat realistic dream of doing what you love to make millions so that you can make perfect grades.
Edit: Now that I think of it, a very large amount of workouts are after the end of the semester.

Right now, that dream isn't somewhat realistic for guys like Hall, Herb, and Petty. Maybe it will be soon. I hope so, but none of those guys are near ready and any scout would tell them the same thing.
