It sounds like Alabama Fusion won't have a U17 team in EYBL. Two straight years without an Alabama team on the highest AAU level. Kira is going to play with Georgia Stars. We'll see what Watford does.

They could've put together a great AAU team this year too.

Kira
Walton
Kobe Brown
Watford
Deantoni Gordon

The U16 Fusion team should be good though.

Kam Woods
Antwann Burnett (He's also a great WR, a two sport football and basketball player would be awesome. SCAR had Bruce Ellington 5 or so years ago.)
Colby Jones
Rongie Gordon
Zondrick Garrett

Ole Miss offered Jaykwon Walton. I'm surprised that neither Auburn or Bama have offered him

I mentioned it about a month back that Auburn has kept an extremely close eye on him. We don't have a good idea of scholarship situation for 2019 and have a few guys ahead of him

Yes, we’re suoposed to hear something about Coleman. There was an interview last year where Byrne said for us to expect to hear something after the season was over. Now that it’s over, it could be announced at any time. Everyone I’ve talked to said it’s going to be a massive renovation. I think similar to what Florida did. That would explain why Byrne was touring Florida’s arena and looking at everything down there during our away game this year

Armond Davis is leaving

quote:

I am forever grateful for the opportunity at the University of Alabama. I am appreciative of the love and support I received at UA from coaches and fans. However with the support of my family. I will utilize my fifth year as a graduate transfer. Thank you and God bless.

One thing that can be said about Armond is he wasn't afraid to shoot. He just seemed afraid to make....

Shocking. Now we will see if we decided to force another transfer or move Avery Jr to a walk-on position. There's really no reason not to move him off scholarship other than it'll hurt his ego. Even if he was our best player, it'd be the right move.

Noticed some grad transfers that may end up on Bama's radar for either A) PG or B) Shooters

SF Ryan Taylor Evansville - 21.9ppg 42.4% 3FG and didn't drop off vs KenPom A+B tier teams. Zona is looking at him

PG Clayton Cluster Loyola Chi ** (Possible transfer) 14.7ppg 4.1apg efficiency is elite even vs top competition - He's actually the real deal

SF Micah Seaborn Monmouth - multi All Conf >40% 3FG 13+ppg every year of career

Since people here have followed the AU FBI scandal, the NCAA has ruled AU's Danjel Purifoy eligible pending a 9 game suspension next season (Wiley eligible for full season).

I can't imagine tough penalties for AU given

- AU's proactive approach to sit all implicated players
- AU's cooperation + adherence to NCAA rules/protocols during scandal
- Chuck Person's scandal never accused of paying recruits + wasn't limited to AU (tried to rope in Sexton)
- Let's be real, NCAA ain't punishing anyone except maybe Zona

It woudl also appear that Bruce Pearl will not be "fired" barring unexpected changes/information regarding the scandal

Only potential change is Wiley turning pro...I think he's thought of as a late 1st rounder.

In addition I don't anticipate Avery hitting the grad transfer market this year, dont believe the #s will fit unless another guy transfers...Which there aren't any indications of that.

Not sure I buy it. I've never been quite as high on Wiley's current skill/ability level as others + he's had some 3 leg/knee surgeries before 19YO. I don't a see a RD1 grade on an injury prone trad big man C who has limited tape showing he cant shoot, questionable hands and hasn't shown consistent finishing.

I see most teams telling him he'd benefit from another year to prove his talent/health. Wiley has a talent ceiling that could make him a lotto pick, just not close right now IYAM

More worried about Mustapha Heron right now. There's always been smoke about him wanting to go pro early. He lived in Italy as a kid, he may be willing to go Euro

Why not Norris? Don't see him fitting anywhere next year

I still think a grad transfer > Avery Jr on scholarship too

The idea of the coach's son being on scholarship is absurd to me. I get the whole feeling of "earningit /rewarding" JR but it hurts the team

Bama had the rare opportunity to have "14 scholarship" players by just giving Avery a raise to offset JRs cost of attendance. Stupid not to do it

I don't see him wanting to leave, or the coaches encouraging him to leave. I doubt he has delusions of making the NBA, and being an Albertville kid, he's probably at his dream school. I'd be less surprised to see him in some kind of assistant role than to see him transfer to another school.

Avery announced at tip off club that Riley wanted to be back. I wasn’t there. Just what I heard. I assumed that to mean that he was going to be back.

Not a bad thing when you're bringing back senior leadership. That being said, like the rest of the team, Norris better be working on how to be a more efficient shooter and better dribbler in the off-season. Like I mentioned with Reese and Petty- I'd much prefer them working on some shot fakes to get inside and shoot mid-range jumpers.

Agree with you here. I've felt and said from the start that AU was fine unless something new came out. The 'worst' will probably be vacating the wins where Wiley and Purifoy played last year and in that case who gives a frick? We all saw the games so we know who really won.

I certainly hope no one has to leave to keep Riley around. If he's staying, they better be making room by taking Jr off scholarship.

I just think Riley's at the point where we know what we're going to get with him- missing wide open jump shots, awkward looking with the ball, and struggling to move his feet on defense. Only thing he really adds is rebounding.

I'd much rather have him go, us take Jr off scholarship, and go after any of the grad transfers Gene listed. Taylor from Evansville has 3gor potential and would be a much better option at the 3 than Norris. I think we may really need a PG more than 3 point shooting though.

I'd prefer it too- just speaking from the likely scenario.

Jr shouldn't be on scholarship period. Especially if we're going to bring in a valuable handler at PG. Not that I don't trust Butler's ability to run point, but that's a huge task for a 3-star freshman. And I'd rather not have another year of Ingram running point.

I'm going to beat this to death this off-season, but we desperately need better ball-handlers and players that have no trouble in traffic.
