Do we have any real shot of landing him? Can we make up some ground if we have an awesome season?

I'm headed to New York to see us play in the Barclays against BYU and Minnesota.
Good news: I just bought seats and they are great.
Bad news: Friday game (against I think BYU) has been changed to be played at LIU-Brooklyn
Worst news: Saturday November 25th game at Barclays against Minnesota is being played at 2:30 or 5:00 I believe. There's a rather important football game being played at 2:30 that day I'm sure since CBS will have it. It's not one of the weekends where they have primetime.

Happens all the time with the top HS recruits in Alabama. Purifoy was top 20 and slid. Langford was the 3rd ranked player and slid. Both Wiley and Petty were top 5 and slid. Trendon Watford was top 5 and is already sliding. In most cases, it's completely unwarranted too. It's gotten to the point where if I see an Alabama player is ranked a 5-star in the final ranking, that I assume they'll at least be an NBA starter.

Avery and the players talked with the media today. Here's some things they said:
-No eligibility concerns at the moment
-Going to start the year off with two point guards
-Key, Ingram, and Sexton combined to hit 10/10 from 3 in one drill
-Key said he thought they played terrible defensively in Canada but he thinks the offense is way better than last year.
-Hall said they plan to "get to the SEC tourney, win that, and get to the next level".
-Key said the defense has gotten better since the Canadian tour
-Hall said they weren't worried about the FBI investigating bc they trust the staff
-Avery's excited about year 3, says the team is working hard
-Avery said he doesn't think we'll be picked to finish 13th in the SEC this year like we were in year 1
-Avery said they've been proactive with all the proper authorities during the investigation and the internal investigation is still ongoing
-Freshmen are competitive, energetic, coachable
-Norris injured his hip Monday and is "week to week"
-Avery thinks we'll have another competitive recruiting class. Involved with some high level kids

I agree that AL basketball doesn't get the respect it probably deserves but I'll point this out
Purifoy deserved to slide. First, most places hammer kids in rankings that aren't expected to qualify (Who could have predicted Auburn/Purifoy paid someone to take his ACT?)
Ignoring academics though, he was extremely raw out of HS. His shot out of Hargrave still was a work in progress and that was far from his only raw development area
The talent is there, but he wasn't a top 20 player out of HS just a top 20 talent ceiling type guy
Wiley's fall has a lot to do with the style of play + injuries. He is a true C and I can describe as somewhat "clumsy." It's weird, his skill is adv and raw athleticism is there but I guess his coordination looks "off"
I posted before, the kid can dominate as a true C but he has limitations + has some major red flags even now that concerns me.
I have always chalked it up to the "competition adjustment" Except for the truly can't miss elite, some guys coast on natural ability / haven't fine tuned game for better competition
That luckily is an easy fix once a dose of experience is given to these kids

In addition to the above, it will be an interesting case study to see what happens to Myreon Jones. Moving to an ATL prep school, he should get more exposure, better perceived "competition" I imagine he will end up right around top 100 he maintains his Huffman performances.
Unless he has a true breakout season / performances, I see a jump to consensus top 30-50 being clear bias against AL

It says the Bama-Rhode Island game will be on SECN+ (online only). That's ridiculous. They were an NCAA tourney team and probably will be again, and we should be too. Why isn't that on TV???
Also, we play Minnesota the day of the Iron Bowl. Iron Bowl will probably be at 2:30 and the Minnesota game is at 4

La Tech is only SECN+ right now also. Maybe that'll change. Pretty lame if not.

SECN+ isn't too bad because all you need is something with the ESPN app. It's almost a reason by itself to get a Roku stick/Chromecast if you haven't already.

What about CBS Sports Network? How the hell do you watch that? Is it just a cable channel?

It is a cable channel but they usually stream the games on that channel via the CBS sports app & website. Not sure if you have to authenticate like you do for extra ESPN content.
