Jordan Sexton is making sure we know this doesn't involve Collin. He posted his parents work 10 hours a day every day of the week.

Speculation on my part but with what has transpired so far in the investigation, it is not a rules violation to steer a player who is leaving/has left the program to Adidas or Nike. Illegal, probably but as long as they are no longer affiliated with the program, not against the rules. That would explain the resignation and the statement by Byrne.

What about Petty? He looked better in the Canada games than Sexton did.

From an Auburn poster on TR:

Last year I was at the SEC Championship in Atlanta and I was sitting beside a guy who said he was an AAU coach from Birmingham. We got to talking about basketball in North Alabama. I asked him why in the would would John Petty sign with Alabama over Kentucky and he told me that Petty's mother was paid $100,000 to go to Bama. I called bull shite and he said I had no idea how much influence shoe companies had on where kids went to school.

I commented later to my wife that that guy was full of shite. When all this broke the other day my wife reminded me of that conversation.

What an easy story to make up. Especially about a hated rival.

Give me about 2 minutes and I can make up an even better story about Auburn

Why would a shoe company care if Petty chose Alabama or UK? Both are Nike schools. I thought there was a thought that Kentucky sort of cooled on Petty anyways.

Petty wasn't a take anymore for Kentucky. They had higher guys on their board.

That story is BS

So Nike people wanted Petty to pick a less prestigious Nike school, Alabama, over the most prestigious Nike school, Kentucky? All while Petty was a fringe Kentucky take? And they threw in $100K just for shites and giggles?

They had higher priorities, for sure, but I think they would have taken him if he committed. He just felt slow-played. Cal even said that we got a couple players that UK wanted.

Story sounds made up but some things to clarify in hypothetical bullshite story

1- Schools allegedly funnel money though Nike. Nike gets money to players but they are mostly intermediary /acting on behalf of school

2- Petty may be a fringe Kentucky take, but that doesn't mean other schools wouldn't be interested and willing to jump in & play the game

3- Alabama is more valued Nike contract than UK because football so they have more clout in Oregon

4- Nike wants to pump up all major brand name schools of theirs

It's all possible. I don't really rule much out in CBB recruiting.

Nikes real interest is getting kids to Nike schools

Nike schools use Nikes relationship w kids in HS to buy them. It's so common it is just there price of admission

Replace Nike with Adidas/UA etc.

How far back is the FBI gonna take theyre investigations?? I bet this shite has been going on for at least 25 years.

Also,I never get suspicious about a 5* kid staying close to home (no matter the school). Some kids dont want to leave mama.
