Yeah watching them a bit lately they take a ton of mid-range shots to the point that you have to assume it's their actual goal. If Juzang and Jaquez don't go off their offense is pretty terrible. Their defense is good not great and probably more a product of their pace than anything else. If we speed them up the way we did to Maryland and hit our shots we should beat them somewhat comfortably. They aren't built to play fast.

Gonzaga scores 48% of their pts at the rim and shoot 73.1% on their shots at the rim.
That's frickin insane

I'm a recent convert. I was used to a more diverse offense leads to miss scoring opportunities and better shots. But seeing things ran need purely on efficiency, I've seen the theory put to the test.
You still have to have the right group of players. Without the guys who's skills for into that style, it looks like a trainwreck. But with the right skillet, it's absolutely deadly. And honestly, we still don't have the exact kind of players that Oats will probably go after with the recruiting bump this year's success will bring. We're very close to it, especially with guards and SFs. Toset pieces are a big reason why Oats knew he could win at Bama. But I think Oats has just scratched the surface on the success he's capable of achieving at Bama.

Timme and Suggs can both pretty much score at will in the paint. I just want the opportunity to play them. Obviously because that means we made the Final Four, but also because I want to see what kind of a game we give them.

Same - and with absolutely zero pressure.
I mean, that doesn't mean dick to our team, but it's awesome for us as fans.

So they like the midrange...good for us IMO

What makes this team so deadly, is it's balance. You never know who is going to have a big game. Defenses can't focus on a single player too much, otherwise someone else will eat them alive. I expect Oats will eventually have more talented teams. But this teams chemistry makes up for short comings in other areas.
Rotation is the key on both sides. Ball rotation and making the extra pass, often leads to an open shot. Unselfish play leads to more points for everyone. Switching defenders when someone gets beat off the dribble, then other guys switching to cover the spot of the guy who switched to defend the ball handler. Things like that wins a lot of games. And talent is irrelevant if all 5 guys aren't playing together. That's what makes this team special, and so damn fun to watch.

He's not their coach. So those long 2s will probably give him a chub.

In the NCAA Tournament
Far 2s
- Juzang (56.5%) (13/23)
- Jaquez (42.1%) (8/19)
In the Regular Season
Far 2s
- Juzang (47.7%)
- Jaquez (41.2%)
Juzang is shooting out of his mind right now.

Interestingly, Maryland had the 7th best offensive performance of the Tournament last night.
I pissed a few people off last night, online and on the phone, by making criticisms about our defense. But they shot 53% and 37-38% from 3 without a ton of turnovers. Our defense was noticably weaker than usual (especially once Keon went out with an injury). Lots of open shots. But with Keon and Herb playing reduced minutes, that's not surprising.
And it's another reason I told an uncle to quit bitching about Petty with every miss. He's been a key defender and rebounder, and didn't force any shots in the first half, trying to be the hero. Just took what the D have him, with shots near the rim and a couple good 3 looks that he missed. Sure enough, he won the hard hat last night, and ended up catching fire in the second half.

We definitely did not play great defense last night - especially once we stretched the lead out to 25 or so.
They made some tough shots, but the last 10 minutes or so we were atrocious. We struggled a little the first half on doubling on post guys and leaving open shooters, but we did a lot better the first 10 minutes of the second half.

A lot of Maryland fans were saying that last night was by far the best game they have played all season and one of the best they've ever played under Turgeon and they still lost by 20
The reddit game thread reminds me of the game thread from Michigan St when Bama played Michigan St in the Citrus. It had a "I can't even be mad about this asskicking. It's too damn impressive" vibe to it. Not as funny as the Michigan St thread, but worth a read if you're bored. LINK

Honestly, that might be the best Primo had looked since January. Keon was hurt. But there's was no way in hell he wasn't going back in. He's changed my opinion about reaching into juco for cbb players.

Bruner had a positive BPM in 12 of the first 13 games of the season pre-injury (the only negative was the 1st game vs JSU).
Bruner has had a negative BPM in 5 of the 10 games since he returned - including 4 of the last 5.
Frickin sucks for that guy.
