Haha I was just using the screen name, but good to know
That run was the first allowed by the pitching staff in 36.2 innings. I'd bet Eicholtz is done after 7 innings. One run, three hits, 12 Ks.

It's time for SEC play, the real season, as we get set to host #20 Kentucky this weekend
We currently have an absurd team ERA of 1.71. Our weekend starters (Turnbull, Kamplain, Keller) have an even better combined mark of just 1.23. That's ridiculous. Our closer Burrows hasn't given up a run in 8.1 innings. That's an ERA of 0.00
Obviously those numbers are unlikely to stay that low, but if we keep pitching the way we have so far, we're going to have a chance to win a lot of games and compete at the top of the SEC. With 7 SEC teams currently ranked, our goal of hosting a regional is still very much in play if we perform well. Typically the league hosts at least 4 regionals. We've been hitting the ball better lately, scoring over 7 runs per game over our last six games. Hopefully the offense is coming to life, as we knew it would, at the right time.

Pitching matchups this weekend vs Kentucky:
Friday 6:35
UA - Jr. Spencer Turnbull (1-1, 0.42 ERA)
UK - Jr. AJ Reed (LHP, 3-0, 1.38 ERA)
Saturday 6:05
UA - Jr. Justin Kamplain (2-1, 2.45 ERA)
UK - Jr. Chandler Shepard (RHP, 3-0, 2.42 ERA)
Sunday 1:05
UA - Jr. Jon Keller (4-0, 0.83 ERA)
UK - TBA
Kentucky is a very solid club with a strong pitching staff and one of the best offensive teams in the country so far this year. They're hitting .337 as a team and scoring almost 11 runs per game. Granted, I haven't looked at their schedule so I don't know what kind of competition they've done that against.

Seems like we have some momentum going as of late. Hope we can take it into today.

They've made a scheduling change this weekend. They're anticipating rain on Sunday, so we're playing a double-header tomorrow starting at 12:35. So tonight and two tomorrow, no game Sunday.

We are up 1-0 in the top of the 7th. Kentucky loaded the bases with nobody out in the 6th, but we turned a triple play(yes a triple play) to get out of the inning.

Bottom 8 we are up 3-0... I am interested to see if Burrows stays out there or if we see Ray.

I hope Burrows. I like Ray ,but I trust Burrows more.

It seems Ray is in no mans land, but Burrows is off to a red head start to his career.

This team has a chance to be REALLY good. If Wass/Haynie keep improving and the top of our order gets hot at the same time we will be tough to beat.
I will wait to crown our pitchers until a few weeks of SEC play, but they are seriously rolling right now. Turnbow.. Kamplain..Keller..Burrows... Eicholtz... Bramblett..Shaw.. Are all giving us great outings with most of their eras below 2 and a couple below 1. And we should see Castillo find a role on this team as well as Over street if we need him. Roll Tide!!!

Anyone know what kind of draft prospects these guys have? The pitchers stuff doesn't seem overpowerful, and the hitters don't really have any tools that stand out, but they all seem to know how to play. And its pretty tough to find a mock draft after the first round

Some of our more intriguing pro prospects are not eligible this year. But I believe Turnbull is a 3rd year soph & could get picked up in a mid to late round. Other than that I see a team that plays the game well & our pitchers will keep us competitive in every game, including mid week.

Anyone care to guess how Castillo will be used moving forward? A. Set up man B. Return to closer C. Midweek starter D. Long relief
I hat that starting was not his thing, but I certainly hope we find a spot for him.
