We are NOT going away from Nike. Those are custom made (not sure why they’d do that but whatever).

Think about the amount of money that cost the University. Probably could have paid for a new arena with it. Battle negotiated with Nike at the peak of Saban’s tenure and got bent over a barrel.

I agree.

What baffles me is how/why he screwed us like that. He founded the collegiate licensing business. Seems like he would know how to negotiate and have some business sense about it.

I thought the story was Bryant actually came up with idea and model, then gave Battle the blueprint because Bryant couldn’t do it himself because he was a coach. So all Battle did was technically read the instructions.

Which makes sense because Battle might’ve been the second worst AD of the last 40 years given some of the hires he made. Thank God he wasn’t tasked with replacing Saban.
