I think there is an animus towards the South that has never gone away. They happily destroyed the whole damn sport just to break the SEC hegemony over college football. If Alabama seems special, it is only because we're so consistently winning and every other region in the United States hates it.
Gotta love the cfb redditor type who will talk about how capitalism rots institutions or whatever in their anti-work subreddit posts but gleefully extol the beauty of NIL in college football. Hard to hold those contradictions in one noggin but they do it!

I watched the entire game on mute today. Was a much more pleasant experience than anticipated. I know basketball good enough that I don't need talking heads to tell me whats going on. I would pull up X (twitter) every timeout just to see what was being said. I must admit I had a hard time finding the kid with a mullet.
