I watched last night’s episode of Hey Coach with Oats. They usually have a player join them as well and I was a bit shocked to see the player they chose was Sherrell

In the Holloway thread yesterday there was some talk that Sherrell might be transferring after the year.

Obviously he still could, but if you were set on transferring why would you do the radio show? And if you’re Oats and you could’ve had Mallette, Allen, Wrightsell, or really any of the players join you I wouldn’t think that you’d pick someone on their way out. He also talked about being locked in to a team mindset going into the tournament.

I dunno. Could all be nothing. Just thought it was interesting on the heels of the smoke from yesterday.

Sherrell will be a critical piece to next year's team and the trajectory of his development suggests he could be an all-conference player next year. I think we will do what it takes to retain him absent an offer we just can't even come close to matching.

We probably have additional funds opened up that would have otherwise been allocated to Holloway.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

Sometimes players do something like this and then leave shortly thereafter anyway.

Coaches too. If memory serves, Tosh Lupoi spoke to us about how excited he was for the upcoming January contact period and immediately split to go to Cleveland before it even started (he had to have known).

As cold as it sounds, sometimes it's just who's available on the schedule to speak. Or it might just be a player who needs media practice. It's a business.

I think Sherrell has improved a lot. Hasn't been the case under Oats that a big man has improved that much. You see the guards get a lot better, but not the big men. Sherrell is the exception. I would not want to see him leave.
