But this was the same type of throw that Tua Mac and Bryce would have thrown.

Yeah there is no way on earth he is a 4.6 guy. I watched him outrun Jase like it was nothing. 4.4 for sure.

Ty Simpson is a backup at 8 SEC schools.

??? It's not a good year for QB play in the SEC. I wish him well, hope he gets better, but to this point there's been nothing about anything he's put on tape in a live game or in spring games that makes me think he is the next coming. I guess he did have 5 stars, though, and obviously QB is hardly ever whiffed on in recruiting rankings.

It's fine to believe that, but just understand that you're basing it on nothing tangible. It's just a "feeling" and it' no different than me having a (hypothetical) feeling that Milroe is going to throw for 350, run for 100, and play turnover free in a blowout this weekend.

Solid take. I hope the outside run game is something we try to get going, and I feel like getting Miller involved there last week may have been foreshadowing of that.

Sure, but what we have at qb is known, not a feeling. And, frankly, it's not very good. It's not really a stretch to "have a feeling" one of the highly-touted young guys might have progessed more by this point.

It kind of is. Eli and Dylan were no more highly touted than Jalen. Ty obviously was but I'd argue that the competition Ty played against in Tennessee 2a ball was nowhere near the level Jalen played in Texas 6a ball.

Also I keep seeing guys saying they feel like Ty would at least be doing things Jalen can't like reading the defense and going through progressions etc. if he'd have gotten all the 1st team reps and game time instead of Jalen. Based on what? All 3 guys got 1st team reps in fall camp. If Ty was doing those things against our defense and Jalen wasn't he'd be starting instead. He clearly didn't. Because he's not.

Based on normal expectations for good qb recruits. You don't expect everyone to struggle just because Milroe is.

Highly ranked QBs are more likely to bust than pan out. We've been very fortunate with our QBs. We've still had the following bust Blake Barnett, Phillip Sims, David Cornwell, Cooper Bateman, Taulia Tagovailoa, Star Jackson, Paul Tyson. I wanted Ty to live up to his potential and run away with the job as much as anyone. But it seems like Jalen is our best option right now so it is what it is.

This is just silly. You only think that because only one guy gets to play QB. Do they all turn into superstars? Of course not. But, given the chance to be the guy on a talented team, most of them at least aren't a liability.

That's the last I'm going to say about it here.

Saban will also be starting Milroe in 2024 no matter what. This will be a two year debacle.

I’m thinking Lonergan and the new freshman Julian Sayin coming this year might put a wrinkle in things. At least I hope so.

It has been mentioned; but, I am too am worried that Saban will start Milroe no matter what next year too. I appreciate Milroe and what he is doing. I give him all the credit in the world for sticking it out when it seemed everyone had written him off. That said, if Lonergan has made as much progress as mentioned and Sayin coming in you have to imagine their development will be at least a little ahead of Jalen. I know we have the tendency to out our trust in coach, but he has shown that he will go with the more familiar guy before.
