Why couldn’t the NCAA (or whatever powers that be) come up with a pay scale? You don’t get paid based on your perceived value as a recruit, you get paid by the position you occupy. The first string QB gets $250,000. It doesn’t matter if it’s Arch Manning or Jackson Arnold. The long snapper gets $10,000. Same scale across the entire power 4. You are still free to make whatever you can with endorsement deals but your pay scale will be uniform and it will be nominal. You earn a bonus for conference championships, playoffs, and the natty. Performance bonuses will be awarded to the Heisman winner, the Maxwell winner, etc. In other words, you award performance. If you loaf and lose your position, you lose money. There has to be consequences for nonperformance for what you are being paid for. This BS of getting a check no matter what has to change.

While we’re at it, restructure coaches contracts so your salary is directly tied to your performance. Lower base salaries with large incentives for trophies. Buyouts will be reduced to 1 years’ salary, period, non-negotiable. You’re not going to get rich for sucking. Sexton shouldn’t get rich for selling us a pig in a poke. Either his client puts up, or shut up.

Because that would require players to be recognized officially as employees?

Nah flat rate revenue share rate for your entire 85 man roster. You can refuse the deal of course...but you cant play cfb. You then hope the courts dont overturn it.

Alright, so this is basically a pro sports model. No amateurism to speak of. Regulated pay across conference participants.

This is where it gets dicey. Georgia's defensive ends are making the same as SMU's, Rutgers', Kansas'. Starting to sound like the NFL.

NIL doesn’t need fixing. The transfer portal and buying recruits needs fixing.

The NFL is the most competitively balanced sports. Basically teams only stay bad due to utter incompetence. Even incompetent franchises sometimes just get lucky with their constant stream of high picks after awhile too.
